PRINCETON, N.J. - The Navy men's lightweight crew team produced a pair of top-five finishes at the Princeton Chase on Sunday on Lake Carnegie.
In the championship eight race, Navy's top boat finished third out of 30 boats with a time of 13:38.569. The Midshipmen also had vessels place eighth (14:00.593), 18th (14:23.531) and 26th (14:49.359) in the race. Yale boasted the top time of 13:30.905, while Princeton finished second with a 13:32.509 clocking.
Navy's second boat in the four-oared event placed fourth with a 15:45.209 showing, while the third boat landed seventh with a 15:54.575 clocking. The Midshipmen also placed 16th (16:14.565), 30th (16:52.101) and 36th (17:47.681). Princeton delivered the top time of 15:26.781, followed by Harvard (15:27.895) and Yale (15:33.109).
The heavyweight team also had its plebes compete on Sunday. The Midshipmen placed third (14:27.035) and 14th (15:46.895) out of 16 boats, with Yale placing first (14:02.025) and Princeton finishing second (14:19.267).
The men's heavyweight and lightweight teams will close out the fall campaign next Saturday when their frosh boats compete in the Virginia Invitational.
