Final Stats

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The Navy swimming and diving programs both picked up a trio of victories over Patriot League foes American, Bucknell and Lafayette, Saturday afternoon at Kinney Natatorium in Lewisburg, Pa., to raise their respective records this season to 8-0.

The Navy women's team won 11 of 16 events on its way to posting wins of 191-100 over American, 157-138 over meet-host Bucknell and 197-98 over Lafayette.

"It was a good meet for us," said Navy women's swimming head coach John Morrison. "We had our depth really step up for us today with a lot of good swims."

Tara Chapmon (Jr., Virginia Beach, Va.) recorded a trio of Navy top-10 times in winning the 1000 freestyle, the 200 backstroke and the 500 freestyle Saturday. Her clocking of 10:14.83 gave her the event victory by 23 seconds and was the third-best time in the event in school history behind her own school record of 10:02.16 and her No. 2 performance of 10:08.76. Chapmon's winning time of 2:03.08 in the 200 backstroke ranks second at Navy to Jennie Spencer's (Sr., Smithburg, W.Va.) record of 2:01.72, while her time of 4:56.92 in winning the 500 free stands ninth at Navy.

Matching Chapmon's three victories on the day was teammate Mallory Dietrich (Jr., Pittsburgh, Pa.), who won the 100 breaststroke (1:04.18), 200 breaststroke (2:20.74) and 100 butterfly (57.50). Also recording multiple individual event wins was Thuy-Mi Dinh (Jr., Anaheim, Calif.), who won both sprint freestyle races. Her winning time of 23.07 in the 50 free ranks fifth all time at Navy behind her own standard of 22.37.

Additional individual event winners for Navy were Allison Ranzau (So., Alpharetta, Ga.) in the 200 free (1:52.74) and Desiree' Robison (Sr., Tucson, Ariz.) on the three-meter springboard (score unavailable).

On the men's side, Navy won 13 events to tally victories of 190-67 against American, 159-124 over Bucknell and 182-104 over Lafayette.

"I was very pleased with our effort today," said Navy men's swimming head coach Bill Roberts. "We raced really well across the board. We applied a lot of what we have been working on over the last two weeks in preparation for today's meet. There were a lot of drops in time today from earlier in the season. It is hard to single out any one athlete due to the great efforts put forth by the entire team."

Adam Meyer (Jr., Bethesda, Md.), Erik Hunter (So., Placerville, Calif.), and Olaf Olson (So., Bainbridge Island, Wash.) each won a pair of individual events Saturday for the Mids, with Meyer nearly breaking a pair of his own Navy and Patriot League records on the day. His winning time of 1:47.91 in the 200 fly ranks second to his own standard of 1:47.70, while his clocking of 3:56.34 in the 400 individual medley ranks fourth at Navy to his own record of 3:53.76.

Like Chapmon, Hunter had dominating performances in winning the two distance events. His time of 9:25.66 in the 1000 free won him the event by 21 seconds, while his clocking of 4:32.66 gave him the win in the 500 free by eight seconds. Olson, meanwhile, swept both diving events (scores unavailable).

Six other Mids also recorded individual event wins Saturday. Mac Anthony (Fr., Allentown, Pa.) won the 200 free (1:42.17), Ari Molina (Sr., Arlington, Va.) won the 100 breaststroke (58.64), Alex Oldenkamp (Sr., Coppell, Texas) won the 50 free (21.13), Aaron Aiken (So., Ocala, Fla.) claimed the 100 free (46.75), Andrew Utama (Jr., Walnut Creek, Calif.) won the 200 breast (2:11.57) and Mark Meyer (Fr., Bethesda, Md.) won the 100 butterfly (51.66).

The Navy women's program will next take part in the Terrapin Invitational Nov. 20-22 in College Park, Md., while the Navy men will play host to Brown and Dartmouth Nov. 22 in Lejeune Hall.
