BEDMINSTER, N.J. -- Despite the poor weather conditions in the New York Metropolitan area, the nine teams competing in the 2009 Lincoln Mercury Intercollegiate hosted by Seton Hall headed out on the links Saturday morning. The effort to get the first of three rounds in this weekend was cut short less than two hours into the tournament, as the nor'easter forced the postponement of Saturday's opening round played at Fiddler's Elbow Country Club in Bedminster, N.J.
Trimming the tournament from 54 holes to 36, the hope is to set out on Sunday beginning at 8:30 a.m. with the intention of finishing the first round and also completing the second. Teams were able to complete approximately five holes before the heavy rain began.
