CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- Their respective performances during Navy's recent victory over Air Force allowed Angela Myers (Jr., San Antonio, Texas) and Chey Arvin (Fr., Noblesville, Ind.) to garner weekly honors from the Patriot League. Myers was tabbed as the league's women's basketball player of the week on Monday, while Arvin garnered rookie (freshman)-of-the-week accolades for the sport in the conference.
Myers led Navy during the 54-48 victory over the Falcons on Dec. 22 with 13 points and four steals, while also adding six boards and four assists. The 13 points was her most over the last seven games and marked the fifth time this season in which she has scored in double figures.
Arvin, meanwhile, posted a statistical line of eight rebounds, seven points, five assists, two blocked shots and one steal. Her carom and assist tallies were both season highs for the freshman.
The laurels received by Myers and Arvin were the first of their respective careers.
Navy will both open its 2010 schedule and complete its slate of non-conference games over the next week with games Saturday at Harvard and Jan. 5 at Dayton. The 8-5 Mids, who are already assured of their first winning non-league season in four years, will then return home to play host to Bucknell Jan. 8 in the Patriot League opener for both programs.
