ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The first half of the Patriot League's women's basketball season will come to a close Saturday. Among the games slated for the day is a contest in Hamilton, N.Y., between Navy and Colgate. The game will tip at 2 p.m. in Cotterell Court.

Navy enters the game with a 3-3 record following a 62-45 defeat to American this past Wednesday in Alumni Hall. The setback was the first home loss of the Patriot League season for the Mids and ended an overall four-game home court winning streak.
After American took a 10-point lead early in the second half, Navy was able to whittle the margin down to four points at around the eight-minute mark of the game. From there, however, Navy misfired on eight of its remaining nine shots from the floor while American sank six of its final 10 attempts from the field in the game as the Eagles pulled away from the Mids down the stretch.
Navy's offense was held to Patriot League lows this season in most of the statistical categories for shooting, including overall season lows with three three-point field goals made and 13 three-point field goal attempts.
Individually for the Mids, K.C. Gordon (Sr., Vienna, Va.) ran her streak of consecutive games of scoring in double figures to eight with 10 points against the Eagles. Leading the Navy offense on the night was Angela Myers (Jr., San Antonio, Texas), who tallied 12 points, eight rebounds and five assists.
A victory by the Mids Saturday would allow Navy to end the first half of the league season in no worse than a tie for third place in the standings. Navy and Army, a team the Mids defeated one week ago, are both tied for third place with identical 3-3 records. Additionally, Bucknell, Holy Cross and Lafayette all stand one game behind the two service academies with records of 2-4. Every team in the league is looking up at American, which has posted a 6-0 record thus far in league play. The Eagles also are one game ahead of second-place Lehigh (5-1).
Colgate prepares to play host to the Mids with a 1-5 record in the Patriot League and a 6-14 record on the entire season. With a minimum of nine games left to play this year, the Raiders need one more win to record the most wins in a season for the program in four years.
Navy posted a pair of wins over Colgate during the 2008-09 season. The Mids won a 48-40 decision against the Raiders in Annapolis before tallying a 65-35 win in Hamilton.
Navy holds a 24-15 lead in the all-time series with Colgate, including a 22-14 advantage in Patriot League regular season games. The Mids have won the last five games in the series, with two of those games decided by just two points. While Colgate maintains a 10-8 edge over Navy in games played between the teams in Hamilton, the Mids have defeated the Raiders on each of their last four trips to Cotterell Court.
Even with Navy's recent road success, the home team in the series has posted a 25-12 record against the road team.
