ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- For the third time in the last four weeks, Aaron Dupere has been named the Patriot League / BRINE Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.

Dupere earns the award for the third time and its the fourth weekly honor won by the freshman goalkeeper. As a team, Navy players have won 10 weekly awards this year matching the combined total the program won during the 2004-09 seasons. In addition, a Navy player has been honored by the league every week this year but one.

Dupere, a freshman from Royal Palm Beach, Fla., earned the award after allowing just two goals with eight saves in contests against ACC power North Carolina State and Patriot League leader Colgate. The Mids fell to North Carolina State, 2-1, last Thursday night. Dupere made two saves in the contest and allowed only a pair of goals in three-minute span in the second half. Then on Saturday against Colgate, Dupere stopped six shots, the second-highest total of his career, in a 0-0 tie to record his sixth shutout of the season. The tie helped Navy stay in position for a Patriot League Tournament berth which the Mids can clinch with a win on Saturday night against Lafayette.

Dupere owns a 0.77 GAA and an .815 save percentage, leading the Patriot League in both categories and ranking among the top 20 nationally. His 0.77 GAA ranks third on the Navy single-season chart and his 53 saves are the third most by a freshman in school history. His six shutouts are the fourth most by a Navy goalkeeper in school history.

Meanwhile, Navy remains third in the most recent NSCAA / HendrickCars.com Middle Atlantic Regional rankings behind Charlotte (1st) and Colgate (2nd).

Navy is currently 7-4-4 overall and sits in fourth place in the Patriot League standings with a 2-1-3 record. Navy hosts Lafayette in its final regular-season contest with a spot in the Patriot League Tournament on the line. The Mids will gain the fourth and final spot with a win over Lafayette on Saturday, or a tie combined with a Bucknell tie or loss to Lehigh. Navy has not reached the Patriot League Tournament since the 2001 season.
