ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The 15th-ranked Navy water polo team will serve as the host and top seed of this weekend's CWPA Southern Division Tournament to be played in Lejeune Hall beginning on Friday at 8:00 pm. Navy's (21-5 overall) first game will be played on Saturday morning at 11:30 am against the winner of Washington & Jefferson and Penn State-Behrend.

Navy received the top seed thanks to a 7-1 CWPA South regular-season record. The Midshipmen won the regular-season crown by one game over Princeton (6-2). Johns Hopkins (4-4), Bucknell (2-6) and George Washington (1-7) rounded out the standings.

The remaining seeds are as follows: Princeton (2nd), Johns Hopkins (3rd), Bucknell (4th), Mercyhurst (5th), George Washington (6th), Gannon (7th), Washington & Jefferson (8th), Penn State-Behrend (9th) and Salem International (10th).

Navy has dominated the CWPA Southern Division Tournament since its inception in 1993. The Mids own a 52-5 all-time record in the tournament with 12 titles, including four of the last five years (2009, 2007, 2006, 2005). Just one team, Princeton, has defeated the Midshipmen during the tournament and Navy owns a 42-0 record against all other teams outside of Princeton.

Should Navy win its first game, it would play on Saturday at 5:45 pm against the winner of Bucknell and Mercyhurst. The title game will be played Sunday at 3:30 pm.

The top four placers in the Southern Division Tournament advance to the Eastern Championships on Nov. 19-21, in Lewisburg, Pa.

Admission is free to all games this weekend.
