Two Games in Three Days Ahead for Mids

Dec. 7, 2010

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy women's basketball will play a pair of games in a span of three days this week when the Midshipmen play host to Mount St. Mary's on Wednesday and at Princeton Friday. Both games are slated to tip at 7 p.m.

Navy enters the week looking to snap a three-game losing streak that has dropped its record on the year to 4-4. The Mids have allowed no more than 60 points in any of their three most recent losses to Florida, Loyola and Delaware, but their offense has been held to an average of 50.7 points per game by those foes and has not reached the 56-point mark in any of those three games. This is in contrast to Navy's opening stretch of the year when it averaged 60.0 points per game in posting a 4-1 record to start the year.

Cassie Consedine (Sr., Bartlesville, Okla.) and Angela Myers (Sr., San Antonio, Texas) provided much of the offense for the Mids this past weekend in losses to Loyola (57-54) and Delaware (60-55). Consedine averaged 4.5 three-point field goals made and 18.5 points a game, while Myers averaged 15.5 points and 7.0 assists a game against the Greyhounds and the Blue Hens.

Mount St. Mary's will be making its first trip to Annapolis in four seasons. The Mountaineers, who hold a 16-7 advantage in the all-time series between the teams that began during the 1977-78 season, have posted a 1-5 record this season. Included among the setbacks for the team this year has been losses to Virginia, American, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh. The program compiled a 10-18 overall record and a Northeast Conference mark of 6-12 during the 2009-10 season.

Wednesday's game can be heard live on WNAV-AM 1430 with the broadcast starting 15 minutes prior to tip with the pre-game show. Additionally, a live video stream of the game will be available to Navy All-Access subscribers and live statistics from the game will be offered for free. Visit www.NavySports.com to access links to live statistics and to sign-in or subscribe to Navy All-Access. A one month subscription costs $9.95, while a year-long subscription costs $79.95.

Fans are reminded that only those vehicles with a Department of Defense sticker affixed to it will be allowed to drive onto the grounds of the USNA. All other visitors to The Yard have the option of either finding parking in downtown Annapolis and walking through the Academy's gates or riding the free shuttle bus from Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium ($5. per vehicle to park). Naval Academy faculty and staff will be able to receive up to four free tickets to the game by displaying their ID badge at the Alumni Hall box office Wednesday night. Also, all fans who bring a new, unwrapped toy with them as a donation to the Toys for Tots drive will be admitted free to the game. Additionally, family packages of four general admission tickets, four hot dogs and four sodas can be purchased at the Alumni Hall box office on the night of the game for $24.

Friday's game between the Mids and the Tigers will be the first in the series in nearly a decade. January of 2001 was the last time the two teams faced each other. Navy recorded a win that day in Jadwin Gym to increase its advantage over Princeton in the series to 4-1.

The Tigers completed a perfect 14-0 Ivy League season last year on their way to posting an overall record of 26-3 and garnering a No. 11 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Five starters and 10 of 12 letterwinners from last year's team have helped Princeton to a 5-2 record this season. The Tigers have defeated Lehigh, Delaware and USC, while suffering a one-point loss at Rutgers and a six-point loss at Vanderbilt.

Princeton's web site, www.GoPrincetonTigers, will be offering free live statistics from the game and a live video stream of the contest for $9.95.
