JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- Navy won all three doubles matches, then swept the singles matches to sweep past St. Peter's College, 7-0, on Friday in Jersey City, N.J. The match was Navy's first road match in program history and improves Navy's record to 2-0 on the young season.

Navy was playing its first match in three weeks, as snowstorms have postponed several matches over the last three weeks.

"It's always a good day when you get a win. We were pleased with the way ladies responded after the long break," said Navy head coach Keith Puryear. "We have been out of action in the last three weeks, so we were excited to get out there and get a win."

"We challenged two and three doubles teams, moving them up to the one and two spots today. I loved the way they responded to the challenge," added Puryear.

At No. 1 doubles, Britney Boucher and Stefanie Ton defeated Krysten Chen and Andrea Collomb, 8-6. Julie Dias and Lindsay Olsen topped Joneisa Williams and Jessica Nowogrodski, 8-5. No match was completed at No. 3 doubles, because St. Peter's did not have a sixth player.

"We actually came out very quick in doubles, but we could have finished better and maintained momentum better," said Puryear.

The Mids then swept five singles matches, as a sixth was not completed due to lack of players by Saint Peter's.

Emani Decquir got things started for Navy at No. 1, topping Chen, 6-1, 6-0. Boucher won at No. 2 singles over Williams, 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-8).

Navy's last three singles wins came from Ton at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-2, over Collomb, at No. 4 singles from Dye Das, 6-0, 6-0 over Nowogrodski and at No. 5 singles, from Natalie Houle, 6-0, 6-0, over Ralitsa Ganewska.

"Once singles play started, I thought everyone came out and played really well," said Puryear. "I was impressed with Britney Boucher and how she responded when she fell behind. She beat a very good player today.

"We have a goal of getting better with every match and we did that today," added Puryear.

Navy returns home to face Loyola (Md.) on Sunday, at 1:00 pm at the Tose Family Tennis Center at the Brigade Sports Complex.
