Lightweight Crew Sweeps Georgetown and Delaware

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy men's lightweight crew team posted victories in all five contested races against Georgetown and Delaware on Sunday on the Severn River.

In the first varsity race, Navy produced a time of 6:03.2, finishing 5.6 seconds ahead of both Georgetown and Delaware. The Midshipmen also edged the Hoyas and Blue Hens in the second varsity event with a winning time of 6:11.3.

Both of Navy's third and fourth varsity boats defeated Georgetown's third varsity crew on Saturday. Navy's third varsity finished first with a time of 6:27.8.

Navy's first freshmen boat also picked up a victory, crossing the finish line in 6:10.4, followed by Delaware's 6:15.6 clocking, while Georgetown finished in third with a 6:23.3 showing. The Mids' second freshmen squad also was victorious over the Hoyas, 6:31.8-6:56.2.

The Midshipmen (4-1) will return to action on Saturday, April 24 when they host Harvard in the Haines Trophy race.
