• Video Interview with Mandrin Hill

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy women's lacrosse program has announced senior Caitlin Mandrin Hill has been elected captain for the 2011 season. Mandrin Hill, an Annapolis native, is a four-year starter.

"We're really excited that Caitlin is our new captain for the 2010-11 season," head coach Cindy Timchal said. "I think it's a true tribute to where the direction of our program is going. She came in as a freshman and excelled every single year. Now is the time for her to step up into a leadership role and guide this team to another championship season."

"This is something that I've wanted since I was a freshman here," Mandrin Hill said. "The fact that I have the faith and trust of my teammates to let me have this opportunity is a phenomenal feeling."

During Mandrin Hill's freshman season in 2008, she led a defensive unit that ranked first in the Patriot League in goals allowed. The Mids would post a 13-4 record in their first season of varsity action and earned a berth in the Patriot League Tournament.

Mandrin Hill was moved to the midfield during her sophomore year and would go on to earn First Team All-Patriot League honors. She ranked 16th in the nation in caused turnovers per game (1.89) and helped the Mids to a 13-5 record as the team advanced to the league title game.

Switching positions once again as a junior, Mandrin Hill transitioned flawlessly to the attack unit and posted personal bests in goals (33) and points (68). Mandrin Hill's play was outstanding in the Patriot League Championship, which resulted in an all-tournament team accolade. The Mids would go on to a 17-4 mark and advance to their first NCAA Tournament.

The three previous captains of the women's lacrosse team are Amanda Towey, Lauren Gillam and Erin Rawlick.

The Mids will begin their fall schedule at home on Sept. 25.
