ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Fresh off a dramatic one-point victory over Lehigh Wednesday night, the Navy women's basketball team will be back in Alumni Hall Saturday night to play host to Lafayette in a 7 p.m. game.

Fans are reminded that only those vehicles with a Department of Defense sticker affixed to it will be allowed to drive onto the grounds of the USNA. All other visitors to The Yard have the option of either finding parking in downtown Annapolis and walking through the Academy's gates or riding the free shuttle bus from Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium ($5. per vehicle to park). All kids who wear their youth team basketball jersey will be admitted for free, while all fans who bring a church bulletin with them will receive $3. admission to the game. Additionally the first 75 girls and women will receive a free t-shirt for National Girls and Women in Sports Day.
The Mids recorded their fourth win in five games and improved to 2-0 in Patriot League play with a 63-62 victory over Lehigh Wednesday night. Chey Arvin (So., Noblesville, Ind.) connected on a three-point field goal with 28 seconds left to give the Mids a 61-60 lead. After a Lehigh offensive foul returned possession to Navy, Arvin found Angela Myers (Sr., San Antonio, Texas) open for a breakaway layup that made the score 63-60 with 11.5 seconds left to play. Lehigh could only manage a two-point field goal attempt that went in with four-tenths of a second remaining in the game.
Jade Geif (Fr., Lakeview, Minn.), who scored a career high 14 points last weekend against Bucknell, posted 17 points (and nine rebounds) against the Mountain Hawks. Leading all Mids in scoring was Myers with 18 points.
The Geif-Myers tandem leads Navy in scoring through two league games with averages of 15.5 and 13.5 points per game, respectively. Geif also ranks second on the team with an average of 7.0 rebounds a game, while Myers leads the Mids with a 4.0 assists-per-game average.
Lafayette travels to Annapolis with a 0-2 record in conference play and an overall record of 7-10. The Leopards have lost close decisions to Holy Cross (72-67) and Colgate (64-60) to open the league campaign.
LaKeisha Wright is averaging a team-high 14.5 points per game for Lafayette through the opening two games of league play. Joining her in double figures is Elizabeth Virgin at an even 10.0 points per game. Meanwhile, 6-7 freshman Danielle Fiacco is grabbing a team-high 9.5 rebounds a game.
Lafayette was successful at getting to the free throw line in its games against Holy Cross and Colgate. The Leopards were 35-of-49 from the foul line in those two games. Conversely, the Crusaders and the Raiders were a combined 18-of-27 from the foul line against Lafayette.
The home team in the Navy-Lafayette series won both games last season. The Leopards posted a 46-43 victory in Easton, while the Mids won a 62-42 decision in Annapolis. Navy and Lafayette have competed against each other annually since the 1979-80 season. Navy leads the all-time series with Lafayette by the count of 35-19. This includes a 26-12 edge for the Mids in Patriot League regular season games and a 16-3 advantage in games played in Annapolis.
