CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- Navy's Jade Geif (Fr., Lakeview, Minn.) was announced Monday as the recipient of this week's Patriot League Women's Basketball Rookie-of-the-Week award. It is the first time this season has won the award, which is open only to freshmen.
Geif shot 70.6 percent from the floor and averaged 15.5 points, 11.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks a game during Navy's victories last week over Lehigh (63-62) and Lafayette (61-52). She scored a career-high 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds against the Mountain Hawks before totaling 14 points, a career-best 13 rebounds and a career-high four blocks against the Leopards.
She has shot at least 50 percent from the field in five of the last six games. In addition to an overall shooting percentage of 60 percent over this span, she also has averaged 12.2 points and 8.0 rebounds a game in helping Navy to a 5-1 record in its last six games.
Navy will open a three-game stretch of games away from home Wednesday night at Holy Cross before playing Saturday at Army. Navy's latter game against the Black Knights will be televised nationally by CBS College Sports and made available to Navy All-Access subscribers through www.NavySports.com(.)
