Myers Tabbed for League Accolade

Jan. 24, 2011

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- Navy team captain Angela Myers (Sr., San Antonio, Texas) has been selected as this week's Patriot League Women's Basketball Player of the Week. The league office announced the accolade on Monday.

Myers, who previously earned the laurel on Nov. 22, averaged 18.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists a game during victories by the Mids over Holy Cross and Army. She shot over 50 percent from the field for the week and her scoring average was double that of the Mid with the next-highest mark.

She began the week by scoring 14 points, grabbing eight rebounds and dishing out six assists during Navy's 53-39 victory at Holy Cross. Myers then connected on six of nine three-point field goal attempts and scored 22 points during Navy's 55-46 win at Army. The 22 points were a season high and left her one point shy of tying her career-best effort.

Myers also added eight caroms and five assists in Navy's win over the Black Knights. Her latter tally increased her season assist total to 100, which makes her the first player in Navy history to have recorded four seasons with 100 or more assists.

The 5-0 Mids will play Wednesday at American (4-1) in a 7 p.m. game at Bender Arena.
