Baldwin Named Honorable Mention All-American

Feb. 1, 2011

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Navy senior water polo player Luke Baldwin has been named to the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) All-America Honorable Mention squad the organization announced recently. It marks the 12th straight year that a Navy water polo player has been named to an All-American team.

Baldwin, a 6-0, 180-pound attacker from La Grange Park, Ill., had a sensational year, leading the Mids to a 25-7 overall record and a 7-1 mark in the CWPA Southern Division, good for first place in the league standings. Baldwin led the Midshipmen most statistical categories, including goals (54), assists (29), points (83), shots (119) and steals (35). He finished his career with 98 goals and 76 assists, good for 174 points.

It was the second straight year that Baldwin was named to the All-American squad, as he was also an honorable mention selection a year ago after scoring 51 points (28 g, 23 a). Baldwin has also excelled in the classroom, garnering ESPN The Magazine / CoSIDA Academic All-District II honors last year.

Navy finished the season with a 25-7 record and reached the CWPA Eastern title game for the sixth straight year. Head coach Mike Schofield will welcome back nine letterwinners from the 2010 squad for the 2011 season.
