ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy women's tennis team lost just four games overall in dominating Holy Cross, 6-0, in the quarterfinals of the Patriot League Tournament on Friday morning. The win moves Navy into Saturday's semifinals to face the winner of Bucknell and Lafayette, which was being played at the time of release.

Navy improves to 21-9 overall with the victory, while Holy Cross ends its season with a 2-9 overall mark.

"Holy Cross was a scrappy team and made us play hard to finish off points," said Navy head coach Keith Puryear. "I thought we did a good job executing and we kept our intensity level the whole match."

The Mids lost three games in doubles play then lost just one game combined in the six singles matches.

Navy stormed out of the gates, shaking off any rust it may have accumulated after not playing for almost two weeks by winning all three doubles matches. Emani Decquir (So. / Sacramento, Calif.) and Stefanie Ton (So. / Milpitas, Calif.) won their 15th match of the season with an 8-1 triumph in the first completed match at No. 2 doubles.

Brittney Boucher (Sr. / San Antonio, Texas) and Erin Snook (Fr. / Tampa, Fla.) ran their record to 6-1 in doubles play with an 8-0 victory at No. 3 doubles to wrap up the doubles point for the Midshipmen.

For good measure, Dye Das (So. / Cherry Hill, N.J.) and Amanda Griffin (Sr. / Roseville, Calif.) completed their match with an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles. The win was their third in a row.

"I was very pleased with our doubles play. I thought it was the best we had played in doubles all season long," said Puryear.

Navy then breezed home in singles play, winning four completed matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores and another one by a 6-1, 6-0 score. In the lone match that was not completed, the Mids led 6-0, 5-0.

Boucher gave Navy a 2-0 match lead with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles for her sixth win in a row and school-record 32nd career victory. The six-match winning streak is tied for the second longest in school history.

Griffin followed with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles to become the third player in school history to win 20 matches in a season. The Griffin win was followed by Decquir at No. 2 singles, who was victorious with a 6-0, 6-0 victory to clinch the match for the Mids.

Griffin won her third match in a row, while the victory was the fourth in a row for Decquir.

Snook and Darien Sears (Fr. / Silver Spring, Md.) were allowed to finish their matches and both cruised to matching 6-0, 6-0 victories at No. 5 and No. 4, respectively. Snook improved to 23-11 overall with her fifth win in a row, while Sears ran her record to 23-9 and her fifth win in a row as well.

Ton was leading at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 5-0, when her match was called off.

"If we are going to be successful, we are going to need to repeat the things we did today for the rest of the weekend. It was a good start for us and nice to get an early match under our belts," said Puryear.

The semifinals will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday with the finals scheduled for Sunday at 1:00 pm. One semifinal will pit Navy against either third-seeded Bucknell or sixth-seeded Lafayette. The other semifinal will pair top-seeded Army against either fourth-seeded Lehigh or fifth-seeded Colgate. Admission is free all weekend long.
