Keith Puryear announced the addition of two freshmen for the 2026-27 campaign this week.
A duo that were both rated as four-star or higher recruits by the Tennis Recruiting Network, Puryear, associate head coach
Alessandra Pedergnana and assistant coach
Matt Lennox will welcome newcomers
TaKaii Adderley and
Mary Cain Webster to a roster that returns every player from the 2026 Patriot League championship-winning squad.
"Our coaching staff welcomes TaKaii and Mary Cain to the Navy Women's Tennis family," said Puryear. "They both come from tennis strongholds and have extensive high-level experience. That should bode well for them as they adjust to Division I competition this fall. Coaches Lennox, Pedergnana and I are looking forward to helping to guide them in their Naval Academy journey."
TaKaii Adderley – 5-7 – Miami, Fla. / FLVS Flex
PERSONAL: Ranked as a four-star recruit by the Tennis Recruiting Network … Played tennis at the Eric Dobsha Academy … Attended high school online at Florida Virtual School (FLVS) Flex … Competed for two years of varsity tennis at Oak Hall School, playing No. 1 singles … Named the Gainesville Sun Girls High School Tennis Player of the Year in 2022 and 2023 … Won the district & regional singles championship in 2022 and 2023 … Helped Oak Hall win the district & regional team championship in 2022 and 2023 … Represented the Bahamas at the Junior Billie Jean King Cup and helped the country earn third place, going undefeated at the No. 2 singles position … Earned the USTA Level 3 Sportsmanship Award in 2025 … Received AP Scholar Award … Daughter of Kevin Adderley and Trellanee Moore-Adderley … Grandfather, Nat Moore, played football for the University of Florida and the Miami Dolphins, becoming a Pro Bowl wide receiver over a 13-year professional career … Great-grandfather, Henry McCray, served in the U.S. Army …Great-uncle, Johnnie McCray, served in the U.S. Marine Corps and another great-uncle, Ricky McCray, served in the U.S. Army.
Mary Cain Webster – 5-8 – Anderson, S.C. / Marion Military Institute
PERSONAL: Ranked as a five-star recruit by the Tennis Recruiting Network … Reached a high of No. 43 in the nation on tennis recruiting and No. 2 in the state of South Carolina … Spent the 2025-26 academic year at the Marion Military Institute, which is a Naval Academy Foundation school … A 2025 graduate of Anderson Charter School … Named her class' Salutatorian … Palmetto Fellows Scholar recipient … Attended the Haviland Tennis Academy … Daughter of James and Eleanor Webster … Uncle, Robert Webster, played tennis at the Citadel … Aunt, Nancy Webster, played tennis at Trinity University … Grandfather, Dean Edward Webster, was a captain in the U.S. Navy … Grandfather, Douglas Jenkins, was a captain in the U.S. Air Force.
