Annapolis, Md. - The Navy men's outdoor track and field team will compete at the 117th Penn Relays this weekend at Franklin Field in Philadelphia. This is Navy's last meet before heading to the 2011 Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Easton, Pa. May 6-7.

Navy will compete in the 4x100, 4x200, 4x400, 4x800, 4xMile and distance medley relay, as well as a number of distance and throwing events.

The Mids will be entering a very strong team into the championship heat of the 4xMile relay. Senior Andrew Hanko, and juniors Dominic Della Pelle, Cody Rome and Jeremy Haney will team up to go against some of the nation's top competition in the race, including Arkansas, Villanova, Indiana, Michigan, LSU and Penn State.

The 4xMile team will be eyeing to break the Navy school record time of 16:21.4, which was set in 1974. Last season's 4xMile ream of Rome, Della Pelle, Kenneth Bunnell and Hanko placed ninth with a time of 16:30.25. Hanko ran a mile split of 4:02.5, the fifth-fastest split among the 60 individual runners in the event.

Rome is the defending Patriot League Track-Athlete of the Week after he ran a 14:01.81 in the 5,000m at the Larry Ellis Invitational. Both Rome and Hanko are ranked in the top-25 in the NCAA East Region in the 5,000m run.
