Philadelphia, Pa. - The Navy women's track and field team wrapped up its competition in the Penn Relays at historic Franklin Field on Thursday. The Mids had a trio of throwers achieve ECAC-qualifying marks.

"It was a pretty good day for the throwers," head coach Carla Criste said. "Amanda Phelps, Lauren Allam and Alix Membreno all did great. We also were looking pretty good in the 4x400m relay, but we dropped the baton and that cost us about four seconds. Now we are looking forward to the league championship next weekend at Lafayette and we are looking for some good performances and to peak at the right time."

Membreno posted a new personal record with an ECAC mark of 140-9 (42.91m) to place seventh in the college division of the javelin.

Phelps hit the ECAC mark with a throw of 178-6 (54.42m) in the hammer throw to place second in the college division and teammate Ella Starr was 29th in the event with a throw of 140-2 (42.73m).

Allam hit her sixth ECAC mark in the discus of the season with a throw of 154-5 (47.07m). Allam placed seventh in the college discus division.

The Mids had competitors in both the college and Eastern divisions of the shot put. Freshman Teronda Brown placed 14th in the college event with a mark of 41-8 (12.70m) and senior Janet von Eiff was 28th in the Eastern division with a throw of 39-6½ (12.05m).

Navy had to relay teams in competition. The 4x100m team of Jessica Ridgway, Veronica Ffrench, Kristin Smith and Arabia Littlejohn ran a time of 49.28 to place 57th in the hear. Also, Mansfield Murph and Jess Palacio teamed up with Ffrench and Littlejohn in the 4x400m relay to post a time of 3:56.09 (64th), which was lessened by the baton drop.

Navy will next compete in the Patriot League Outdoor Championships at Lafayette next weekend. The Mids took first place in the Patriot League Indoor Championships this winter.
