CBS Sports Network to Broadcast Patriot League Basketball

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- The Patriot League and CBS Sports Network unveiled a basketball television schedule for the 2012 season that showcases 14 men's and three women's contests, including both the Men's and Women's Championship Game.

The Patriot League Men's Basketball Championship will be televised on CBS Sports Network for the first time on March 7 at 7 p.m., with the Women's Basketball Championship set to be aired for the third year in a row on March 10 at 6 p.m. In addition, the CBS Sports Network will broadcast both semifinal games of the Patriot League Men's Basketball Tournament on March 3 at 2 and 4 p.m.

The Navy men's team will have three games on the network (Jan. 14 vs. Army, Jan. 26 at Lehigh and Feb. 11 at Army). The women's games with Army on Jan. 14 and Feb. 11 will also be aired. Both Army games will be doubleheaders with the Jan. 14 game being played in Annapolis starting at noon, with the annual Star Games being held Feb. 11 in West Point, also starting at noon.

Eleven Patriot League men's basketball contests and two women's games will be broadcast by CBS Sports Network during the regular season, with the return of the flex schedule for the men on the final two weekends. Coverage starts on Jan. 14 when Army visits Navy in a doubleheader in Annapolis, with the women's game shown at Noon and the men following at 2:30 p.m.

Patriot League men's basketball games will be shown frequently in the following weeks, with Lafayette at Holy Cross on Jan. 19 at 7 p.m., Lehigh at Lafayette on Jan. 22 at 2 p.m., Navy at Lehigh on Jan. 26 at 7 p.m. and Colgate at Holy Cross to wrap up the first half of the League slate on Jan. 28 at 5 p.m.

The coverage returns on Feb. 9 with Lehigh visiting American at 7 p.m. Two days later, Navy and Army will meet in another men's and women's doubleheader, this time from West Point. The women's game will tip off at Noon, with the men's contest set for 2:30 p.m.

The past two Patriot League champions and player of the year winners will be featured on CBS Sports Network on Feb. 16, as C.J. McCollum and Lehigh travel to Lewisburg to face Mike Muscala and Bucknell. The first flex game follows on Feb. 18 at 3 p.m., and the final week of the season features Bucknell at American on Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. and another flex slot for the last day of the regular season on Feb. 25 at 3 p.m.

The selection of the flex contests will be made no later than 10 days prior to each of the competition dates. Every Patriot League game will be eligible for the broadcast windows on Feb. 18 and 25.

Patriot League basketball teams open non-League action on Nov. 9, with the first League contests set for Jan. 7.

The Patriot League and CBS Sports Network announced a multi-year deal in June in which the Network will air Patriot League men's and women's basketball, men's lacrosse and football. CBS Sports Network will air Patriot League men and women's basketball for the third straight season. The Network will also provide full coverage of the Patriot League Men's Lacrosse Tournament for the third consecutive year, with a minimum of four regular-season games also televised. CBS Sports Network is televising a pair of Patriot League football games in 2011, with the Lehigh at Colgate contest set for broadcast on Oct. 29.

The expanded partnership with CBS Sports Network provides the most far-reaching television contract in Patriot League history. All televised men's basketball and football games will be shown in high definition. The Patriot League enters into its ninth consecutive year in partnership with CBS Sports Network.
