ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy women's track & field (13-0) swept the four-team winter invitational on Thursday at the Wesley A. Brown Field House. The Mids finished first in the 1000-meter run, long jump and weight throw.

"We had strong performances from our senior group which helped our youngsters follow their lead for a solid team effort," said head coach Carla Criste. "We saw a lot of positives, especially coming back from the Christmas vacation. We hope to carry this success for our next two meets leading up to the Army-Navy meet."

Navy went a perfect 4-0 in the invitational, defeating Delaware (312-243), James Madison (320-221), Maryland-Eastern Shrore (398-111) and Mount St. Mary's (395-108).

Shannon Cuthbert continues to run well, finishing first in the 1000-mete run for the second consecutive meet. Cuthbert's 1000m time of 3:00.94 is a career-best. Following a James Madison runner, Navy tallied the next five runners across the finishing line with Christina Shawver leading the pack (3:02.11).

Freshman Hali McFadgen recorded another strong performance for her second career meet. McFadgen placed first in the long jump with a career-best mark of 5.50m. She followed up with a third-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a career-best time of 9.03.

The Mids went 1-2 in the weight throw with Teronda Brown pacing Navy with a first-place mark of 15.18m. Teammate Maressa Guynn followed up Brown's mark with a throw of 14.07m.

Navy's cross country trio of Kelley Robinson (10:18.37), Christina Blair (10:18.45) and Mary Cate Scully (10:20.94) placed second, third and fourth in the 3000-meter run, respectively.

In the pole vault, Navy's Marissa Stewart and Amanda Graham placed second and third with a mark of 3.30m.

Navy will continue the 2013-14 season at the Terrapin Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 18. The invitational is slated for 10:00 a.m.
