Women's Track Wins the Multi-Madness Meet

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Navy (20-0) won four of 12 events and topped a six-team field with 199 team points to win the Navy Multi-Madness Meet at Wesley Brown Field House on Tuesday evening. Maryland was second with 135 points, followed by Johns Hopkins (73), Loyola (52), Lehigh (30) and McDaniel (14).

"We are happy with the way things went tonight," head coach Carla Criste said. "Amanda Graham pentathlon run was impressive, including her run in the 800m. Now we will look ahead to the Patriot League Championships next weekend and we are very motivated and determined to give it our best."

Junior Amanda Graham placed a team-best sixth in the pentathlon with 3013 points. Seventeen competitors started the pentathlon and Graham placed in the top ten in three of the five individual events with a top showing of fourth place in the 800m (9.88).

Senior Samantha Newhaller was 11th in the pentathlon with 2770 points, senior Sierra Parks was 14th (2686) and freshman Maddy Manhertz placed 15th (2352). Graham had Navy's top individual event performance in the pentathlon, earning 779 points with a fifth-place finishing time in the 60m hurdles.

Junior Shannon Cuthbert paced the Mids in the 800m run with a first-place finishing time of 2:19.74. Teammates Madeline Zell (2:20.75) and Ashley Welker (2:20.79) crossed the tape right behind Cuthbert in second and third, respectively. Navy took the top six spots in the 5000m run with freshman Mary Cate Scully leading the way with a time of 18:12.79.

The Mids swept the top six spots in the 1000m run, which included sophomore Meghan Harvey (2:58.36), freshman Kaitlyn Jan (2:59.62) and sophomore Christina Shawver (3:03.11) finishing one-two-three, respectively.

Sophomore Marissa Stewart won the pole vault with a mark of 10ft-11.75in (3.35m). Freshman Hali McFadgen placed first in the long jump with a winning mark of 16ft-9.75in (5.12m) and junior Sarah Barnum placed second at 16ft-1.75in (4.92m).

Navy will next compete at the Patriot League Indoor Championships in Lewisburg, Pa. from Feb. 21-23.
