TOWSON, Md. - Navy women's track and field team recorded six first-place finishes at the non-scored Towson Invitational Saturday at Johnny Unitas Stadium. Senior Veronica Ffrench tallied the Mids lone ECAC-qualifying performance in the high jump.

"We had a very solid overall performance at today's meet," head coach Carla Criste said. "We had good marks in both the track and field and hope to carry over our success today to next weekend's Army-Navy Star Meet."

Navy tallied five top two finishes on the track and six top two finishes in the field.

In the field, seniors Teronda Brown and Maressa Guynn recorded first-place finishes in the shot put and discus respectively. Brown threw a first-place mark of 42-11.75 (13.10m) in the shot put and Guynn placed first in the discus with a mark of 131-10 (40.18m). Senior Lauren Allam finished second in the discus with a toss of 121-9 (37.11m).

Junior Amanda Graham finished second in the pole vault with a mark of 11-7.75 (3.55m). Graham's mark of 11-7.75 tied her career best, which she set her freshman campaign. Junior Sarah Bernhardt tallied Navy's fourth first-place performance in the field at the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:05.25.

On the track, Meghan Harvey and Kelley Robinson tallied first-place finishes in the 1500m and 5000m respectively. Harvey finished first in the 1500m with a time of 4:43.31 and Robinson in the 5000m with time of 17:43.21.

Sophomore Amanda Mulkey and junior Christina Blair each finished second in their respective events. Mulkey placed second in the 1500m just 0:01.45 behind Harvey. Blair recorded second in the 5000m 0:01.41 behind teammate Robinson.

Senior Madeline Zell recorded a second-place finish in the 800m with a time of 2:17.50.

Navy will look to make it six-straight Star Meet victories against archrival Army on Saturday, April 5 in West Point, N.Y.
