ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy women's tennis team (13-3) defeated Delaware (2-3), 7-0, at the Tose Family Tennis Center in the Brigade Sports Complex on Tuesday afternoon. Navy swept the doubles point and won all six singles matches.

"I'm proud of the ladies and how we competed," head coach Keith Puryear said. "There are always things we need to do better and work on, but it was a good day for us. Delaware is a very good team and they were very scrappy. Even after losing the doubles point they continued to hang around and fight us."

Senior Darien Sears and sophomore Sam Droop picked up the first win at No. 3 doubles over Danea Jonjic and Kim Milla, 8-3. Junior Noelle Kaufmann and sophomore Mikaela Carlson followed with a win at No. 1 doubles over Dorothy Safron and Carmen Lai, 8-6.

Lastly, senior Erin Snook and sophomore Katie Porter won at No. 2 doubles, 8-6, over Nataliya Naumova and Olivia Heim.

"I thought our doubles play was very solid today," said Puryear. "We've played pretty good doubles throughout the season but haven't always been able to seal the deal, but we were able to do that today."

In singles play, Sears defeated Safron at No. 2, 6-3, 6-0 and then Droop closed out Lai at No. 3 singles, 1-6, 6-1, 6-2. Junior Gabby Winter then clinched the match with a three-set win over Naumova at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 4-6, 6-1.

Snook battled at No. 1 singles with Jonjic before pulling out a 6-3, 7-5 win.

"I thought Erin played a really solid match," Puryear said. "The young lady from Delaware fought her tooth and nail. Erin did a good job of keeping her composure and doing what she needed to do to win the match."

Kaufmann defeated Heim at No. 5, 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 and Porter made it a clean sweep by rallying to defeat Milla at No. 6 singles, 6-7 (7-9), 6-4, 1-0 (10-8).

Navy is now 3-1 in the all-time series against Delaware and the Mids have won three-straight in the series.

Navy will next travel on a spring break trip to the Orlando, Florida area. Navy will play Coastal Carolina and St. Cloud State on Tuesday and then Quinnipiac and Robert Morris on Wednesday.
