FAIRFAX, Va. - Navy women's track and field team finished second of 20 teams at the George Mason Invitational Saturday. Mids tally three ECAC-qualifying marks and 11 top-ten performances.

"We had a great all-around team performance to achieve the second-place finish," Head coach Carla Criste said. "Our throwers were the backbone of our success and we look to carry-over that success in the coming weeks leading up to the Patriot League Championship."

Navy finished 6.50 points off first-place Columbia (80). Patriot League foe Boston University (66) placed third behind Navy. West Virginia (59) and Georgetown (55) rounded out the top five.

The Mids' discus throwers recorded three top-four finishes, which was led by senior Teronda Brown with a second-place finish of 151-2 (ECAC). Seniors Lauren Allam and Maress Guynn finished right behind Brown with marks of 150-0 (ECAC) and 148-7 (ECAC), respectively.

Guynn placed first in the hammer throw with a mark of 164-0 (50.00m). Brown finished sixth with a throw of 154-4 (47.04m). Brown also finished second in the shot put with a mark of 43-6.5 (13.27m).

Senior Veronica Ffrench placed sixth in the high jump with a mark of 5-5 (1.65m). Junior Amanda Graham recorded a sixth-place finish in the pole vault with a mark of 11-7.75 (3.55m). Freshman Ashley Krulick finished sixth in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 11:47.41.

Sophomore Morgan O'Connor and junior Emily Jensen finished 8-9 in the 5000m run. O'Connor finished with a time of 17:54.97 and Jensen (17:56.91) crossed the tape two seconds later.

Sophomore Crystan McLymore recorded an eighth-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 37-10.75 (11.55m).

Navy will compete in two invitationals next week, beginning with the McDaniel Twilight Meet on Tuesday. The Mids will then travel to the James Madison Invitational on Saturday.
