ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy varsity offshore sailing program had teams competing in two events this weekend, including the Shields Trophy Regatta, which Navy hosted aboard its fleet of 44s.

Nine teams competed in Shields with Navy's crew led by senior Brandt Clemons finishing seventh. California Maritime won the regatta.

In the Hospice Cup, junior Thomas Wester skippered Navy's J/105 Allegiance to seventh place out of 16 boats while junior Andy Bonn skippered Dreadnought to 12th place in the same class.

Next up for the varsity offshore sailing team is the Annapolis Yacht Club Fall Series weekend #1 on October 4.
