LANDOVER, Md. - Junior Marissa Stewart (Frederick, Md.) led the Navy women's track and field team with a first-place finish in the pole vault at the Maryland Invitational on Saturday.
"We used today's meet as a good training tool to have our athlete compete in multiple events with little time to recovery for meets such as our Army-Navy dual and the Patriot League Championship," Navy head coach Carla Criste said.
Stewart earned Navy's lone first-place in the pole vault with a mark of 11ft-3.75in (3.45m). Freshman Charlene Kearns (Rochester, N.Y.) placed third in the same event with a performance of 10ft-10in (3.30m). Junior Crystan McLymore (Raleigh, N.C.) earned third place in the triple jump with a mark of 37ft-9.5in (11.52m).
Senior Emily Jensen (The Woodlands, Texas) placed fourth in the 5000-meter run with a time of 18:02.37. Junior Meghan Harvey (Nottingham, Pa.) and senior Shannon Cuthbert (Orange Park, Fla.) finished fourth-fifth in the 800-meter run with times of 2:20.19 and 2:21.28, respectively.
