ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The 16th-ranked Navy squash team is undefeated through three weeks of action after scoring five wins over the weekend at the Navy Round Robin. The Mids produced wins over No. 28 MIT (9-0), Virginia (7-2), Bucknell (9-0), No. 24 Hobart (8-1) and Denison (9-0) to push their season record to 14-0.

Navy came into the weekend having swept (9-0) each of its first nine opponents. After posting a 9-0 win Saturday morning against MIT, the Mids faced a tough challenge in a Virginia club team that had given Franklin & Marshall fits a handful of weeks ago. Despite dropping their first two individual matches of the season, the Mids stood tall and beat the Cavaliers, 7-2. Navy closed out Saturday with a 9-0 win against Bucknell, winning all nine matches by a 3-0 count.

On Sunday, Navy played two tough matches that resulted in wins over Hobart, losing one individual match and Denison.

Six Mids who play among the ladder's starting lineup came away with undefeated marks, including sophomore Jack Herold (Chicago, Ill.). Herold, Navy's No. 2 player, posted a 5-0 record over the weekend and leads the team with 14 wins this season. He turned in a pair of wins in tough matches, beating Virginia's Jarett Odrich, 13-11, 7-11, 11-9, 11-7, while also scoring a four-game victory against Denison's Sherief Shahin in the weekend finale.

Senior team captain Bill Kacergis (Malvern, Pa.), junior Reed Whitney (Ladue, Mo.) and freshmen Dylan Sweeney (New York, N.Y.) and Jamie Kjorlien (Greenwich, Conn.) totaled 5-0 marks on the weekend and all four have improved to 13-0 on the year. Kacergis, meanwhile, pushed his career win mark to 65-24 (.730) and now stands 14th in career wins under head coach Craig Dawson's watch. He trails 13th-place Hunter Beck by just one win.

Freshman Alex Patricolo (Southampton, N.Y.) moved to 10-1 this season, scoring perhaps the biggest win of the weekend. He opened his match against Hobart's Ilya Khan with an 11-9 victory, but Khan came back to win two in a row to take the 2-1 advantage. Patricolo bounced back and won the final two games to secure the 3-2 win.

Also winning a big match in the Hobart victory was junior Randy Beck (Lafayette Hill, Pa.). Beck won his first two games against sophomore Terrance Rose, however, Rose pulled even in the match with 11-4 and 11-5 wins in the third and fourth games, respectively. The final game went back and forth before Beck sealed the victory with a 16-14 win.

The Mids will be back in action on Friday when they play host to No. 7 Penn at the Halsey Field House International Squash Courts beginning at 5:00 pm.
