"The nine ladies that played today did very well," said head coach Keith Puryear. "We lost the doubles point to George Mason, but recovered very well. We jumped out to first-set leads in most of the matches and rode the momentum home. We had a couple where we wavered a little bit but we were able to get back and do what we needed to do to get the win.

"We came out a little faster in doubles in the second match against Morgan State. We played very smart. We were able to gain momentum in the match, hold on to it and then apply pressure. The ladies played some pretty inspired ball today and we had two good team wins."

Navy dropped the doubles point against George Mason, but went on to win all six singles matches to claim the 6-1 win.

Summer Ralston was the first to close out her match at No. 6 singles, defeating Elizabeth Sutherland, 6-1, 6-3. Amanda Keller followed with a straight set win at No. 3 singles and then Claudia Mackenzie won in straight sets at No. 5.

Sophomore Audrey Channell clinched the team win over George Mason at No. 2 singles with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Morgan Yang and Sam Droop (No. 1) and Allie Pavlansky (No. 4) would also earn victories.

The Mids won at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles against Morgan State and then captured four of the six singles matches.

Pavlansky was the first to close, winning her second singles match of the day by defeating Jasmine Edwards, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 6. Keller posted a straight set win over Riana Roberts at No. 4 and then freshman Kristine Rojo clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles over Kayla Price.

Junior Logan Antill also posted a singles win at No. 2 against Morgan State.

Navy will next host George Washington on Saturday, February 14 at 9 AM.
