ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Recent Naval Academy graduate Kevin Alter has been named to the 2014-15 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court. The Honors Court recognizing those men's collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the past season.

A record number of 1,000 student-athletes from more than 350 colleges and universities appear on this year's Honors Court.

To be eligible for the Honors Court, the student-athlete must be a junior or a senior, have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 and have attended his school for at least one year.

Alter was also named to the 2014-15 Patriot League Men's Basketball Academic Honor Roll.

Alter played in 80 career games during his four-year career. He scored 193 career points, made 48 3-pointers, had 49 rebounds and 34 assists. Alter played in 15 games as senior and scored 14 points in Navy's win over VMI on Dec. 9.

Alter received his bachelor's degree in economics in May and was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. He graduated with a 3.58 grade-point average and posted a 4.00 grade-point average in the spring 2015 semester.

Alter was also one of just five players to be named to the 2015 Allstate NABC Good Works Team and was honored at the Final Four in Indianapolis. The Good Works Team is a community service-based recognition.

Alter is the third Navy basketball player to earn NABC Honors Court recognition and the first since 2012.
