Patriot League Release CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Navy men's soccer players Brock Dudley and Sam Bascom have been named to the 2016 All-Patriot League Team, the conference office announced Monday. Dudley and Bascom both earn all-league honors for the second straight year.
Dudley continues to rate as one of the top holding midfielders in the Patriot League and he was named to the All-Patriot League Second Team this season.
Dudley started all 18 games at the midfield position for Navy this season and led all field players with 1,713 minutes played. He played every minute of every game in the 2016 season.
Dudley scored one goal this season, tallying an unassisted goal in Navy's 2-1 win over Longwood on Oct. 11.
Dudley was also named to the all-league second team last season as a sophomore.
Bascom was named to the all-league third team in 2016. Bascom shared the team-lead of three goals and ranked second on the team with eight total points. He also had two assists on the season. He shared the team-lead of 31 shots.
Bascom scored in Navy's 2-1 win over UMBC on Oct. 18 and he also tallied goals in a tie with Holy Cross and in a loss at Loyola. He assisted on Ericson Bean's game-winning goal against Saint Joseph's and also assisted on Andrew Hopkins' game-winning goal against Longwood.
Bascom will graduate with 23 career points on seven goals and nine assists. He played in 76 career games at Navy, the second most in program history.
Bascom received all-league second-team honors in 2015.
Navy head coach Tim O'Donohue saw two players earn all-league honors in his first season in Annapolis in 2016. The Mids (5-9-4, 1-6-2 PL) have now had at least two players receive all-league honors in each of the last five seasons.
