Anderson Named NAAA Athlete of the Week

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Navy men's basketball junior guard Shawn Anderson has been named the NAAA Athlete of the Week for the week ending December 11. Anderson averaged a team-best 15.0 points with 6.5 rebounds while helping Navy go 2-0 last week with wins over Bryant and Columbia.

Anderson scored a team-high 21 points in Navy's 69-54 win over Columbia on Friday. Anderson was 7-of-10 from the floor and 7-of-10 from the free throw line. He also had five rebounds, three assists and no turnovers in a game-high 33 minutes.

Anderson scored the game-winning basket in Navy's 76-74 win over Bryant with 13 seconds remaining last Tuesday. Anderson finished with nine points and eight rebounds, three assists and zero turnovers against Bryant in just 20 minutes of play.

Anderson helped Navy overcome a 25-point deficit, which was Navy's largest deficit overcome to win a game in school history and the second-largest halftime deficit overcome to win a game in NCAA history.

Anderson was named to the Patriot League Weekly Honor Roll for his performance last week.

Anderson is leading Navy in scoring (12.9) for the second straight year. He ranks second on the team in rebounding (5.3) and is third in assists (2.3).

Navy (5-6) will next play at Hartford (4-8) on Thursday, Dec. 22.
