Jan. 4, 2017 ANNAPOLIS, Md. â€"â€" Women's basketball player Hannah Fenske (Jr., Albuquerque, N.M.) has been selected as the NAAA Athlete of the Week for the time frame ending Jan. 2.
Fenske, who missed all of the 2015-16 season due to a knee injury, led the Mids in scoring and ranked second on the team in assists on the week in games against Bucknell (L, 67-64) and Holy Cross (W, 57-56). She began the pair of games by scoring 10 of her career-high 17 points in the fourth quarter of Navy's narrow loss at Bucknell. Fenske also recorded four assists, three rebounds, two steals and zero turnovers in her 29 minutes on the court against the Bison. A few days later, she tallied 11 points, six rebounds and three assists in 28 minutes of playing time against the Crusaders. She played a key role in Navy's defensive stand with just a few seconds left in the game that secured the one-point victory for the Mids.
Navy (8-5, 1-1 Patriot League) will take to the road for a pair of games this weekend. The Mids will first play Friday night at Boston U. before taking on Colgate Sunday afternoon.
