Navy senior goalkeeper Mac Burke made seven saves for the Mids, who started three freshmen in the 2017 opener (Jarvian Wigfall, Nicko West and Wyatt Millard).

Burke and senior captain Brock Dudley were each named to the Preseason All-Patriot League Team last week. Dudley is a two-time All-Patriot League honoree.

Navy is 3-2-0 in its last five home openers at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility and the Mids were 4-1-3 at home last season. Navy defeated Northern Illinois, 2-0, in its home opener last year.

Navy and NJIT will be meeting for the third time in the five seasons on Monday evening. Navy defeated NJIT, 3-1, in Annapolis on Oct. 22, 2013 and the following season NJIT defeated then-No. 22 Navy, 1-0, on Sept. 20, 2014 in Newark, N.J. The all-time series is even at 1-1.

NJIT opened the season with a 1-0 win at Sacred Heart on Friday. Senior Danny Cordeiro netted the game's only goal in the 52nd minute and goalkeeper Victor Pujades was untested in the shutout victory. NJIT outshot Sacred Heart, 17-2.

NJIT was 8-6-4 overall in 2016 and tied for third place in the Atlantic Sun at 3-2-1. The Highlanders have been picked to finish fifth out of seven teams in the Atlantic Sun this year.

NJIT senior forward Mamadou Guirassy earned all-region honors last season after scoring 17 points on seven goals and three assists. Pujades was named to the Atlantic Sun All-Freshmen Team last season. He posted seven shutouts and a 1.11 goals-against average last season.

Following Monday's home opener against NJIT, the Mids will next host Campbell on Thursday at 7:00 PM.
