ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Navy (10-5, 1-1 PL) will look for a second straight Patriot League win when hosting American (3-10, 0-2 PL) on Friday at 7:00 PM in Alumni Hall. Navy is coming off a 78-66 win over Lehigh on Tuesday. The popular Meet the Mids postgame autograph session will be held after Friday's contest.

The Navy-American game will have free live video on navysports.com and the Patriot League Network. Pete Medhurst and Michael Heary will call the game on the live video feed and will also have the Navy radio call on 1430 AM / 99.9 FM WNAV and on 1500 AM WFED in Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia. Live statistics will also be available.

Midshipmen Storylines
• Navy enters Friday's contest at 10-5 overall and 1-1 in the Patriot League.
• After losing at Loyola in its league opener last Friday, 72-63, Navy rebounded to earn a 78-66 win over Lehigh on Tuesday.
• In the game against Lehigh, junior forward George Kiernan scored a career-high 27 points with seven rebounds.
• Kiernan scored 21 of his game-high 27 points in the first half. He also scored Navy's final 14 points of the first period.
• Junior guard Hasan Abdullah scored all of his season-high 17 points in the second half, while senior Shawn Anderson scored all of his 11 points after halftime as well.
• Anderson also tallied seven rebounds and a team-high five assists.
• Freshman guard Cam Davis scored a season-high 14 points in 27 minutes of play.
• Navy trailed Lehigh at halftime, 35-31, but outscored the visitors 47-31 after halftime, including 20-3 during a critical six-minute stretch at the end of the game.
• The 12-point win was Navy's largest victory margin over Lehigh since 2001.
• Navy improved to 9-0 this season, and 19-0 over the last two seasons, when scoring at least 70 points.
• Anderson is leading Navy in scoring for the third straight year at 12.7 points per game.
• Anderson is first on the team in assists (3.3), first in minutes played (30.7) and second in rebounding (5.7).

• Abdullah's 2.4 steals per game lead the Patriot League and rank as the 18th-most in the NCAA.
• Abdullah's 36 total steals rank as the 15th-most in the NCAA.
• Abdullah has had at least one steal in all of Navy's 15 games this season.
• Senior forward Tom Lacey ranks fourth on the team in scoring (9.7) and is first in rebounding (5.9).

• Navy also ranks first in the Patriot League in rebounding margin (+5.1) and offensive rebounds per game (10.8).

American Storylines
• American (3-10, 0-2 PL) enters Friday's game at Navy on a four-game losing skid.
• American has lost its last four games to Mount St. Mary's (59-56), Marquette (92-51), Bucknell (84-55), and Colgate (72-63).
• Sophomore guard Sa'eed Nelson scored 21 points and freshman forward Sam Iorio posted 18 points and 10 rebounds in the loss to Colgate.
• Nelson is averaging a team-best 18.5 points per game.
• Nelson ranks second in the Patriot League in scoring and is first in minutes played per game (37.2).
• Junior guard Larry Motuzis is second on the team in scoring at 16.8 points and Iorio is third at 11.7.
• American is ninth in the Patriot League in scoring offense (64.3).
• American was picked ninth in the Patriot League preseason poll.
• Head coach Mike Brennan is in his fifth season at American. He led American to the NCAA Tournament in his first season in 2013-14.

• American leads the all-time series over Navy, 46-40.
• The two teams split the 2016-17 season series with each team winning on the other team's home court.
• Navy won at American last season on Jan. 25, 71-53, while American won at Navy on Feb. 22, 74-58.
• Bryce Dulin scored 15 points and Tom Lacey had 14 points and 15 rebounds in Navy's win at American. It was Navy's first win at Bender Arena since 2008.
• American outshot Navy 61 percent to 31 percent in the Eagles' win at Alumni Hall.

Looking Ahead: Navy to Play at Colgate on Monday
• Navy will make the long road trip to play at Colgate (7-6, 2-0 PL) on Monday at 5:00 PM.
• Colgate has opened Patriot League play with wins over Holy Cross (79-74) and American (72-63).
• The Raiders are hosting Lafayette on Friday evening.

Anderson Selected as One of 30 Candidates for Senior CLASS Award
• Navy senior Navy senior guard Shawn Anderson has been selected as one of 30 NCAA men's basketball candidates for the 2017-18 Senior CLASS Award.
• To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
• The 30 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists in February, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character and competition.
• Anderson was named to the All-Patriot League Second Team following the 2016-17 season. He was one of five players named to the Patriot League All-Preseason Team prior to the 2017-18 season.
• Anderson co-founded the non-profit Forever Red Hurricanes with a high school classmate. One program under the Forever Red Hurricanes organization is the `Canes Coats for Kids, which solicits donations from the community to provide warm coats for children in need. There is also an annual coat drive at the New Castle Basketball Tip-Off Classic.
• Another program under the Forever Red Hurricanes is "Transitioning to Success," which is a mentor program that helps sixth-graders transition to seventh grade.
• Anderson is also involved with a community service outreach group in Annapolis at a local housing authority complex.
• As a junior, Anderson received the Naval Academy's inaugural Community Service Athlete of the Year Award.
• Anderson, Navy's team captain, will be commissioned as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy following his graduation as a quantitative economics major in May. His service assignment is Surface Warfare Officer.
• Other notable candidates include Duke's Grayson Allen, North Carolina's Joel Berry II, Xavier's Trevon Bluiett, West Virginia's Jevon Carter and Gonzaga's Jonathan Williams.
• Anderson is one of three Patriot League candidates along with Army's Luke Morrison and Lehigh's Kahron Ross.
• This is the first time that a Navy men's basketball player has been selected as a candidate for the Senior Class Award.

Shuttle / Parking Information
All fans attending the game are encouraged to park at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Fans can enter Gate 5 off Taylor Ave. and pay $5 for parking. The shuttle is free and the pick up and drop off spot is in front of the Blue Angel plane. The shuttle will run from one hour before the start of the game to one hour after the game concludes. Fans ages 18 and over need photo ID to enter the Academy. Parking at the stadium is the best option for fans attending the game. Due to Naval Academy security restrictions, the general public can not drive their vehicles on to the Yard. The pedestrian entries at Gate 1, Gate 3 and Gate 8, will be open.
