LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Navy women's tennis team capped off its fall slate this weekend at the ITA Atlantic Regional at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va.

The Midshipmen had five individuals compete at the regional competition to finish off the 2018 portion of their schedule.
Ansofi Wreder (Jr., Miami, Fla.),
Kaylah Hodge (Jr., Upper Marlboro, Md.),
Amanda Cyr (So. Cary, N.C.),
Catalina Rico (Sr., San Jose, Calif.) and
Annalise Klopfer (Fr. Palm Harbor, Fla.) represented Navy at the regional.
"It was a good opportunity for us this weekend." Head coach
Keith Puryear said to conclude the tournament. "To compete against the best teams and individuals in our region is a great measuring stick for us. We had some good wins – Catalina, Ansofi and Kaylah stood out in that regard – and we had some tough losses. But regardless of score lines, we were able to see our progress and accurately assess areas of focus moving forward."

Wreder and Hodge partnered in the doubles main draw and earned a round of 64 victory over George Mason's Jackie Nannery and Hannah Harrod, 8-6. However, Hodge and Wreder suffered an 8-3 set back to Holly Hutchinson and Brooke Pilkington of Old Dominion – who are in the semifinals of the draw.

Cyr and Rico were also in the doubles draw but dropped their first-round contest in a tiebreaker to Alexandra Almborg and Grace Hashiguchi of host Liberty, 8-7 (7-5).

In the singles portion of the tournament, Hodge and Klopfer competed in the singles qualifying draw to try and get into the main draw. Both Hodge and Klopfer dropped their first matches in the draw and did not qualify. Hodge lost in straight sets to Sofia Sualehe of VCU, 6-2, 6-2. Klopfer suffered a three-set loss to Abby Amos of James Madison, 6-4, 6-7 (2-7), 6-3.

Wreder – who was placed in the main draw – started with a 6-3, 6-1, victory over Georgetown's Sofie Moenster. Wreder's tournament run came to a close in the round of the 32 after dropping a 6-3, 6-1 contest to Anna Rasmussen from VCU.

A quartet of Midshipmen also competed in extra singles contests to finish off the weekend in Lynchburg, Va. Hodge earned a three-set win against Anne-Sophie Courteau from West Virginia, 6-3, 5-7, 12-10.
