ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The fans at Alumni Hall on Sunday afternoon will be treated to a matchup of two of the East Coast's most successful mid-major women's basketball program in recent history as Navy will host Marist College in a 2 p.m. non-conference contest. Sunday's tilt between the Mids (1-0) and Red Foxes (0-0) will feature two programs that have combined to win 200 games over the past five years as the Mids have been victorious 101 times, while the Red Foxes have been on the winning side of 99 games between 2013-14 and 2017-18. These two teams met on the hardwood up in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. in the 2017-18 season opener for both programs. Navy was victorious 77-70 in that contest.
Sunday's game will be streamed live on the Patriot League Network and on Facebook via the Watch Stadium Live page. WNAV will also broadcast the game over the radio airwaves at 1430 AM / 99.9 FM WNAV. Live stats will be available at NavyStats.com.
Last Time Out
Navy opened its 2018-19 campaign with an emphatic 81-36 victory over Catholic University on Wednesday night at Alumni Hall. After a slow start to the game, the Mids outscored the Cardinals, 47-16 over the second and third quarters to put distance between themselves and their neighbors from Washington, D.C.

For the contest, Navy outshot Catholic, 40.6 percent (26-64) to 30.0 (11-49) from the field and 35.3 percent (12-34) to 16.7 (2-12) from three-point range. The Mids converted 70.8 percent (17-24) of their attempts from the foul line. On the glass, Navy dominated Catholic 48-32 in the rebound category with 21 of those rebounds being of the offensive variety. Navy doled out 21 assists on 26 made shots.
Defensively, Navy forced Catholic into 30 turnovers and blocked six shots.
Navy versus Marist
The Mids and Red Foxes have meet three times coming into Sunday's matchup with Navy holding a slight 2-1 edge ... The teams first played in a home-and-home series in 2000-01 and 2001-02 and saw the host schools win in each matchup; Marist, 66-55 on December 30, 2000 and Navy 66-59 on December 1, 2001 ... The home-and-home setup was revived this past November with the Mids traveling to the Red Foxes' campus in Poughkeepsie and coming away with a 77-70 victory.

Looking Back at Navy-Marist 2017 (Nov. 10)
Navy rallied from a 14-point third-quarter deficit to defeat Marist, 77-70 on November 10 at McCann Arena in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. The game served as the season opener for both squads.
The teams entered the start of the second half tied at 31, but Marist opened the third quarter on an 11-0 run and soon took a 49-35 lead with four minutes remaining in the frame. Navy cut the deficit down to 56-46 heading into the final 10 minutes of play.
It was still a 10-point game (60-50) 75 seconds into the fourth quarter, but Navy quickly sliced the margin down to 62-60 on a three-point field goal by Taylor Dunham with 6:31 still to play. The Mids tied the game at 65 on a jumper by Hannah Fenske with 4:42 left on the clock then took the lead 45 seconds later. The lead changed twice more, then a third time when Bianca Roach scored on a reverse layup with 2:54 left to play to make the score 69-68. That was the final lead change as Navy closed the game on an 8-2 run down the stretch.
Navy shot 70.6 percent from the field in the final quarter (12-17), while limiting Marist to a 4-11 effort (36.4%). Additionally, the Red Foxes were just 5-13 (38.5%) from the foul line in the final 10 minutes of the game. Overall, Marist was 11-24 (45.8%) from the free throw line and Navy was 7-10 (70%) with the Mids sinking 4-of-6 attempts in the fourth quarter.
Navy shot 46.2 percent from the field on the night when included a 10-26 (38.5%) effort from three-point land. Marist made 41.9 percent of its shots, which featured a 7-24 (29.2%) showing from outside the arc.
Fenske, who opened the game with three-point field goals made on each of Navy's first three offensive possessions, ended the contest with career-highs of five triples and 22 points. She was one of five Mids to score in double figures.

Parking/Shuttle Ticket Information
Vehicle access to the U.S. Naval Academy is limited to those with a Department of Defense identification card ... It is suggested that everyone else park at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium ($5 per vehicle) and ride the free shuttle bus to and from the game ... Shuttle bus service will begin one hour prior to tip. Note that a government issued identification card must be carried and presented by visitors ages 18 and older to the USNA prior to being allowed onto The Yard.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for youth online in advance of the game at NavySports.com. The Alumni Hall Ticket Office will open one hour prior to the start of the game.
