ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy track and field team opened up the 2018-19 season with 22 IC4A / ECAC qualifying times and marks at the Navy Winter Invitational on Saturday at the Wesley A. Brown Field House in Annapolis, Md.
"It was a pretty good first meet," Director of Navy Track and Field
Jamie Cook said after the meet. "We had some people move into the top 10, which was good. Some people who have really been training well really stood out today. It is really good for them to see that the hard work pays off. We have to start planning on what we need to do to get prepared for the next training cycle. The next training block for us is to be more in tune with what our event specialties will be. We tried a lot of people in a lot of different events. Now we can kind of hone in what we think they might be best at and prepare for the bigger part of the year, which will happen in the month of February."
The men's team had 18 IC4A qualifiers, while the women finished with four ECAC qualifiers. The women had three times that rank in Navy's all-time top 10, while the men added a pair of top 10 performances.
The Midshipmen excelled in the men's 60-meter dash. The Mids posted five of the top 10 times in the event with all five qualifying for the IC4As.
