Five Starting Notes
• Navy will close both the 2018 calendar year and its pre-Patriot League slate of games with a Sunday afternoon contest at Cornell.
• The teams will be facing each other for the first time in 65 seasons. The last game between the programs was a 69-67 win by the Mids over the Big Red in the second round of the 1954 NCAA Tournament. Sunday's game also will be just the fourth in series history.
• Both teams will be playing a game for the first time in a little more than a week (Navy nine days, Cornell eight days).
• The lone common opponent to date between the teams is Delaware. The Mids won an 80-65 decision over the Blue Hens and Delaware registered a 73-56 win over the Big Red. Navy also has lost to Ivy League-foe Brown and Cornell has lost to Colgate and defeated Lafayette from the Patriot League.
• Navy will return home for the first time in 33 days when it opens league play Jan. 3 against Colgate.
