CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Navy senior guard Shawn Anderson was named the Patriot League Men's Basketball The Rock Player of the Week on Monday, the league office announced.
Anderson led Navy to a 2-0 record last week as the Mids defeated Lafayette, 71-69, and Boston University, 62-48.
Anderson led the Mids in scoring (20.5) assists (3.5) and minutes (33.0), while also averaging 5.5 rebounds in the two Navy wins.
He scored a season-high 28 points with seven rebounds and three assists in Navy's win over Lafayette on Wednesday. He was 11-of-14 from the floor and 2-of-3 on 3-pointers. The 11 field goals made were a career high.
Anderson also scored a game-high 13 points in Navy's 62-48 win at Boston U. on Saturday. He had a game-high four assists with four rebounds in 35 minutes.
Anderson also became the first player in Navy history to amass over 1,000 career points, 500 rebounds and 300 assists last week in the game against Lafayette.
This is Anderson's first Patriot League weekly award of the season and the third of his career.
Navy (19-10, 10-6 PL) will play at Bucknell (20-9, 14-2 PL) on Wednesday at 7:00 PM.
