Setting the Stage
•    Navy and Memphis will meet for the fourth time in school history, all as American Athletic Conference division rivals, when they square off on Saturday afternoon at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium (34,000) in the first conference game for both schools. Kickoff is set for 3:30 pm and the presenting game day sponsor is BB&T. Navy leads the all-time series, 2-1.
• Memphis won last year's game in Memphis, 30-27, as the Tigers forced five Navy turnovers. The Mids entered that contest 5-0 and ranked No. 25 in the country and were coming off a thrilling 48-45 win over rival Air Force. Since the heartbreaking loss to Memphis, the Mids have lost six of their last eight games with five of those losses coming by 10 points or less including a 10-point loss to undefeated UCF and a seven-point loss to No. 8 Notre Dame. The winner of the Navy-Memphis game has earned at least a share of the West Division title in each of the last three years.
•    Navy is 9-1 (.900) in home openers under head coach Ken Niumatalolo with its only loss a 31-24 decision against Rutgers in 2014. The Mids own wins over Towson, LA Tech, Georgia Southern, Delaware (twice), VMI, Colgate, Fordham and Tulane in home openers under Niumatalolo.
•    CBS Sports Network will televise Saturday's game nationally with John Sadak, Randy Cross and Sheehan Stanwick-Burch on the call.
•    The Navy Football Insider Show will premier on Thursday at 7:00 pm on WBAL Radio (1090 AM) with host Joe Miller. Pete Medhurst will also contribute to the broadcast.
•    The Navy Football Tailgate Show on WNAV Radio 1430 AM / 99.9 FM will air at 1:30 pm with Wylie Baker and Bill Lusby.
•    Tim Murray will host the Navy Game Day Insider Show on WBAL Radio (1090 AM) starting at 2:00 pm.
•    The Navy Football Pregame Show with Tim Murray, Pete Medhurst, Tom O'Brien and Joe Miller will get underway at 2:30 pm on the Navy Radio Network, followed by game action beginning at 3:30 pm with Medhurst, O'Brien and Miller on the call on the Navy Radio Network.
•    Following the contest, Medhurst, O'Brien, Miller and Murray will recap the day's events in a 30-minute postgame show.

Game Day Festivities
•    The Navy football team will arrive at the Blue Angel on the West (Blue) side of the stadium at approximately 1:00 pm. The team will walk down the sidewalk and through NavyFest before walking to the tunnel. Fans are invited to stand on both sides of the sidewalk to cheer on the players.
•    The March-On of the Brigade of Midshipmen will be at 3:11 pm.
•    The National Anthem will take place at 3:20 pm, followed by a flyby at the end of the National Anthem.
•   Saturday's fly-over features four Boeing F/A-18F Super Hornets from the world famous "Jolly Rogers" of VFA-103 based out    of Naval Air Station Oceana, Virginia Beach, Va. The lead aircraft will be piloted by Lt. Rajiv Stone (USNA, Class of 2012) with Weapons Systems Officer Lt. Adam Lauer (USNA, Class of 2012). The left wing will be piloted by Lt. Jeff Lentz (USNA, Class of 2013) with Weapons Systems Officer Lt. Saree Moreno (USNA, Class of 2014). The slot position will be piloted by Lt. Chris Kapuschansky (USNA, Class of 2012).  The right wing will be piloted by Lt. Ben Fox (USNA, Class of 2009) with Weapons Systems Officer Lt. Thomas Helinek (Davidson College, Class of 2013). The "Jolly Rogers" are part of Carrier Air Wing Seven attached to the USS Abraham Lincoln, currently completing a work up cycle to prepare for their upcoming deployment.
•      There will be a parachute jumper from Team Fastrax that will be carrying an American flag at 3:24 pm.
•    Kickoff on Saturday is slated for 3:32 pm. Please note there is a chance kickoff and all activities noted above could be pushed back by five minutes if the first game on CBS Sports Network is running long. That decision will be made before the 60-minute clock starts at 2:32 pm.
•    The 2017-18 Navy men's and women's track & field teams will be honored between the first and second quarter. The men's indoor and outdoor teams both beat Army and won the Patriot League Championship, while the women's outdoor team defeated Army and won the Patriot League Championship.
•    At halftime, the Naval Academy Drum and Bugle Corps will perform.
•    The pilots from the fly-by will be recognized between the third and fourth quarter.
•    Following the game, Navy's alma mater, Navy Blue & Gold, will be played as the team stands at attention in front of the Brigade of Midshipmen. It is one of the best traditions in all of sports.

Hawai'i Outscores Navy in 2018 Season Opener
•    Cole McDonald threw for 428 yards and six touchdowns on 30-of-41 passing to lead Hawai'i to a 59-41 win over Navy.
•    The Rainbow Warriors scored on their first six possessions and racked up 522 total yards, while the Midshipmen dropped their first season opener since 2014.
•    John Ursua (10 catches for 167 yards), Cedric Byrd (11 for 90) and JoJo Ward (6 for 161) each caught two touchdown passes from McDonald.
•    Freddy Holly III's 1-yard TD run, the first of his career, gave Hawaii a 14-0 first-quarter lead.
•    After Navy turned it over on downs on its ensuing drive, Ward pulled down a 34-yard scoring strike from McDonald five plays into the second quarter on fourth-and-4.
•    Later in the quarter, on fourth-and-1, McDonald faked a handoff to Holly before lofting a deep pass down the right sideline to a wide-open Ursua, who recorded his seventh game with at least 100 receiving yards.
•    That stretched the lead to 35-7, but Navy answered with Malcom Perry's 75-yard TD run one play later.
•    Ryan Meskell's 23-yard field goal on the final play of the first half closed out a 24-point second quarter for the Rainbow Warriors and gave them a 38-14 lead at the intermission.
•    Navy scored twice — on a pair of Zach Abey TD runs — in a span of 85 seconds midway through the third quarter to pull within 38-28, but McDonald tossed a 31-yard TD pass to Byrd early in the fourth to make it a 17-point cushion.
•    Abey scored on runs of 3, 1, 7 and 2 yards and Perry rushed for 108 yards on 17 carries.
•    Navy finished with 441 total yards, including 326 rushing.

Abey Ties FBS Record
•    Navy senior wide receiver / quarterback Zach Abey tied an NCAA record last Saturday at Hawai'i by scoring a rushing touchdown on three consecutive carries.
•    Abey, who had touchdown runs of 3 (as a QB), 1 (as a QB) and 7 yards (as a WR) on consecutive carries, is just the the seventh player in FBS history to accomplish the feat and the second Navy player. Chris McCoy scored on runs of 2, 9 and 2 yards on consecutive carries against Rutgers in 1997.
•    Abey would score a fourth rushing touchdown on Navy's final possession when he moved to quarterback and scored on a 2-yard run, but his consecutive TD streak had been broken earlier in the quarter when he picked up a first down as a quarterback by running for four yards on third-and-2.
•    Abey finished the day with 17 yards rushing and four touchdowns on five carries and was 0-1 passing the ball.

Scouting Memphis
•    Memphis is coming off a 66-14 shellacking of Mercer as Arizona State transfer Brady White completed 22-of-28 passes for 358 yards and five touchdowns.
•    White hit five different Memphis receivers for touchdowns as 12 different Tigers caught a pass led by John Williams who had six catches for 39 yards.  Patrick Taylor had a 75-yard touchdown catch and running back Darrell Henderson took a 62-yard reception to the house.
•    Calvin Austin III had an 83-yard touchdown run on his only carry, while Henderson and Taylor combined for 128 yards and two touchdown on 18 carries (both had 9 carries and a touchdown).
•    The tough Memphis defense held Mercer to just 174 yards of total offense, including 60 yards on the ground.
•    J.J. Russell led the Tigers with four tackles, 1.5 tackles for a loss, a sack and a forced fumble.
•    Memphis has won 13 of their last 14 games dating back to the 2016 season.

Volunteer Navy
•    Navy has a whopping 20 players on its roster from the state of Tennessee, more than any other state.
•    Players hailing from the state of Tennessee currently on the depth chart include co-captain and senior starting safety Sean Williams (Memphis), junior starting quarterback Malcolm Perry (Clarksville), senior starting right tackle Andrew Wood (Mt. Juliet), junior starting nose guard Jackson Pittman (Antioch), junior starting kickoff specialist and second-team punter and placekicker J.R.
