Setting the Stage
•    Navy and UConn will meet on the gridiron for the 10th time and for the final time as American Athletic Conference foes when they square off on Friday night at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field (40,642). Kickoff is set for 8:00 pm.
•    Navy is coming off a thrilling 41-38 victory over Tulane that made the Mids bowl eligible for the 15th time in the last 17 years. UConn, meanwhile, is coming off a 56-35 victory over UMass.
•    Navy is off to a 6-1 start for the second time in Ken Niumatalolo's tenure and for just the third time in the last 16 years. In 2015, Navy started 9-1 en route to an 11-2 record, an AAC West Co-Championship, the Commander-In-Chief's Trophy and a 44-28 victory over Pitt in the Military Bowl. In 2004, Navy started 7-1 en route to a 10-2 record, the Commander-In-Chief's Trophy and a 34-19 victory over New Mexico in the Emerald Bowl.
•     Malcolm Perry needs 66 more rushing yards to join Keenan Reynolds as the only players in school history to rush for more than 1,000 yards in three seasons.
•    ESPN2 will televise Friday's game with Dave LaMont, Jim L. Mora and Paul Carcaterra on the call.
•    The Navy Football Tailgate Show on WNAV Radio 1430 AM / 99.9 FM will air from 6:00-7:00 pm with Wylie Baker and Bill Lusby serving as the hosts.
•    The Navy Football Pregame Show with Pete Medhurst, Joe Miller, Keith Mills and Scott Wykoff will get underway at 7:00 pm on the Navy Radio Network, followed by game action beginning at 8:00 pm with Medhurst, Miller and Mills on the call.
•    Following the contest, Medhurst, Miller, Mills and Wykoff will recap the evening's events in a 30-minute postgame show.

Scouting UConn
•    The Huskies enter Friday's game coming off a 56-35 trouncing of UMass last Saturday in Amherst. UConn running back Kevin Mensah rushed for 164 yards and five touchdowns on just 19 carries, while Art Thompkins rushed for 135 yards and one touchdown on 13 carries. Quarterback Jack Zergiotis completed 18 of his 27 passes for 198 yards with one touchdown and one interception, while wide receiver Cameron Ross caught nine passes for 120 yards and one touchdown. Jackson Mitchell led the UConn defense with 13 tackles, while Ian Swenson added 11.
•    On the year, Mensah has rushed for 696 yards and nine touchdowns on 150 carries, while Thompkins has 375 yards and two touchdowns on 80 carries. Mensah's nine rushing touchdowns are the 15th most in the country.
•    UConn keeps the ball 33 minutes per game, which is the 17th most in the country.
•    Thompkins has 442 combined yards in kick returns, which stands 14th nationally.
•    Zergiotis has completed 85 of his 140 pass attempts for 874 yards with four touchdowns and six interceptions. Ross is the leading receiver with 40 catches for 478 yards and two touchdowns.
•    Omar Fortt leads the UConn defense with 57 tackles, 2.5 tackles for a loss, 1.5 sacks and a fumble recovery, while Tyler Coyle has 49 tackles, 1.5 tackles for a loss, an interception, six pass breakups and a forced fumble.
•    UConn's fourth down defense is 15th in the country.

Notes from the Tulane Game
•     For the first time since Dec. 28, 2017 (114 Malcolm Perry, 101 Chris High vs. Virginia), Navy had two players rush for 100 yards apiece. Jamale Carothers rushed for a career-high 154 yards, while Malcolm Perry rushed for 142 yards.
•     Navy, who came into the game ranked No. 1 in the country in rushing yards per game (345.0), finished the game with 385 yards rushing, its fourth-best rushing day this season.
•     Navy is only the second team (304 by Houston) that has rushed for over 200 yards against Tulane this season, while it's the most given up by the Green Wave defense.
•     The 42 points by Navy are the second most (47 at Memphis) Tulane has given up this season.
•     Navy's nine tackles for a loss are the most since posting nine against UConn on Sept. 26, 2015.
•     Tulane came into the game having rushed for 250 yards in six of its last eight games and ranked eighth nationally in rushing, averaging 267.7 yards. Navy held the Green Wave to 187 yards on the ground, their third fewest of the year.
•     Navy scored on its opening drive (52-yd run by Jamale Carothers) of the game for the first time since the Memphis game.
•     Navy's opponent was held scoreless on its opening drive for the sixth time in seven games.
•     Navy has failed to score on its opening drive of the second half in five straight games.
•     Navy's opponent was held scoreless on its first drive of the second half for the fifth time this season.
•     Jamale Carothers' 154 yards rushing were the most by a Navy fullback since Chris High rushed for 176 yards against Fordham on Sept. 3, 2016. It's the most against an FBS team since Alexander Teich had 210 yards against Notre Dame on Oct. 23, 2010. He scored three rushing touchdowns and a receiving TD, marking his first career multi-touchdown contest. He is the second player to score four touchdowns in a game this season, joining Malcolm Perry who scored four rushing TDs against East Carolina.  He has now scored a rushing touchdown in each of the last three games.
•    Nizaire Cromartie posted a season-high six tackles, including a career-best three tackles for a loss.
•     Diego Fagot turned in eight tackles and a sack (12 yds), while also intercepting Tulane QB Justin McMillan and returning it 17 yards for a touchdown. It was Fagot's first career interception and it was Navy's first pick 6 since Justin Norton returned an interception for 26 yards and a TD at SMU on Nov. 26, 2016.
•     Evan Fochtman paced the Mids with a career-high nine tackles.
•     Michael McMorris posted his first career interception in a touchdown-saving effort at the Navy 1-yard line.
•     Bijan Nichols connected on a pair of field goals, including the game-winner of 48 yards. It was just a yard shy of his career long of 49 set against Memphis. Nichols has made five of his seven field goals this season and is 3-for-5 from 40 or more.
•     Malcolm Perry carried the ball 22 times for 142 yards and was 2 for 7 via the air with a touchdown and an interception. He gained 86 of his 142 yards in the fourth quarter. Perry reached the 100-yard rushing mark for the 15th time in his career, including 11 of his 15 starts at quarterback. The 15 100-yard rushing games by Perry is tied (Chris McCoy, 1995-97) as the third most in program history. Perry has rushed for 100 or more yards in four straight games, the longest consecutive 100-yard game streak since he put together five in a row beginning with the 2017 Army game and ending with Lehigh a year ago.
•     Jacob Springer equalled his season high with seven stops and added a sack. He has recorded a sack in each of the last four contests and a total of six this season.  It's the most sacks by a Navy player since D.J. Palmore had six in 2016.
•     Owen White punted four times for an average of 47.2 yards per punt, placing two of the four inside the 20. White matched his career high with a 61-yard punt (61-yarder at Memphis on Oct. 14, 2017).

Bowl Eligible
•    Navy is bowl eligible for the 15th time in the last 17 years. However, for the first time during that run, Navy will not know which bowl game it will go to until bowl announcements are made on Sunday, Dec. 8, since the Mids now fall under the American Athletic Conference umbrella for bowl games.
•    Possible bowl game locations for the Mids include the Tropical Smoothie Cafe Frisco Bowl in Frisco, Texas on Dec. 20 (Conference USA, MAC,); The AutoNation Cure Bowl in Orlando, Fla. on Dec. 21 (Sun Belt); the Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl in Boca Raton, Fla. on Dec. 21 (MAC, Conference USA); the Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl in Tampa, Fla. on Dec. 23 (Conference USA); the SoFi Hawai'i Bowl in Honolulu, Hawai'i on Dec. 24 (BYU, Mountain West); the Military Bowl presented by Northrop Grumman in Annapolis, Md. on Dec. 27 (Notre Dame,  ACC); the Birmingham Bowl in Birmingham, Ala. on Jan. 2 (SEC) or the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic on Dec. 28 in Arlington, Texas (at-large opponent) if Navy is selected as the top team from the Group of 5.
•    The AAC also has secondary bowl agreements with the AutoZone Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tenn. on Dec. 31 (Big 12 vs. SEC) and with the Walk-On's Independence Bowl on Dec. 26 in Shreveport, La. (SEC vs. ACC or Notre Dame). If either of those bowls can't fill their slots, an AAC team could be placed in one of those two bowls.

Navy Dominant in the First Half
•    Navy has outscored the opposition, 166-50 (23.7-7.1), in the first half of its seven games.
•    Navy has outscored the opponents, 72-13, in the first quarter and 94-37 in the second quarter.
•    The Mids haven't been quite as dominant in the second half, outscoring the opposition 99-85 (14.1-12.1).
•    Navy has been outscored by the opponents, 38-35, in the third quarter, but have bounced back to outscore the opponents 64-47 in the fourth quarter.
