ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Navy's junior pair of Nicko West (Mansfield, Texas) and Ian Bramblett (Easley, S.C.) were named Patriot League Players of the Week, which marks the second-straight week the Midshipmen have had multiple weekly award winners.
West earned his first career Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week honor and Bramblett earns his third Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week recognition.
West sparked the Navy offense this week with six points over two games. In each of Navy's wins this past week, he posted a goal and an assist to stretch the Midshipmen's winning streak to 15 games and they now sit at 11-0-0 on the year. West started the week assisting on Jacob Williams' (So., Millersville, Md.) second-half goal against American and then he sealed the 4-0 win for Navy with a goal in the 69th minute. Against Bucknell, Navy scored two goals in 51 seconds and West has a part of both of them. He first assisted on Joe Alex's (So., Lockport, N.Y.) game-winning goal, then the native of Mansfield, Texas secured the 2-0 victory with his second goal of the week.
On the year, West has scored six goals and has chipped in with two assists. His 14 points and six goals are second on the team and third in the Patriot League.
Bramblett picked up two more shutouts this past week after making a save on the road against American in a 4-0 victory and then he made four stops in Navy's home win against Bucknell. His lone stop against the Eagles on Wednesday afternoon was off a penalty kick on American's only shot on goal of the afternoon.
