Senior quarterback Malcolm Perry has been named the Naval Academy Athletic Association Athlete of the Week for his performance in Navy's win 34-25 win over Air Force. Perry carried the ball 23 times for 111 yards and two touchdowns, while completing five of his seven pass attempts for 144 yards to lead Navy to the thrilling win in the first leg in the battle for the Commander-In-Chief's Trophy. With Navy trailing 25-21 with 3:15 left, Perry led the Mids on an 11-play, 75-yard drive over the final 2:52 and capped the drive with a 3-yard touchdown run for the win. Navy, 3-1 and 1-1 in the American Athletic Conference, travels to Tulsa (2-3, 0-1 in the AAC) on Saturday to take on the Golden Hurricane in a 7:30 PM (6:30 in Tulsa) game that will be televised by ESPNU and broadcast on the Navy Radio Network.

The Mids' senior captain had a standout performance on Saturday against a stout field at the Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, Pa. ... Racing as one of 390 runners, Brophy crossed the finish line with an 8k time of 23:23.0 that ranked second overall ... On the strength of Brophy and Kevin Murray's fourth-place result, Navy finished sixth of 45 teams in the nationwide competition.
Samantha Choi, Women's Tennis
Making her collegiate debut at the Navy Blue & Gold Invitational, the freshman made it to the finals of the doubles B flight and singles D flight ... She won the singles flight with four wins, all coming in straight sets ... She first won a 6-4, 6-1 contest against George Mason's Marium Raza and then won 6-1, 6-1 against Seton Hall's Anniek Jansen ... Choi outlasted Rishika Ravindran of UNC Wilmington, 6-3, 6-3, and in the final, she completed her weekend with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Annie Gupta of UNC Wilmington ... In the doubles B flight, she teamed up with Tina Li ... The pair first won a 6-4 contest against Georgetown's Carmen Aizpurua and Elena DeSantis and then they earned a 6-3 win in the semifinals over Lauren Quinn and Olivia Moore of Mary Washington ... Choi's only loss of the weekend came against teammates Danika Kahtapitiya and Kacey Moore in an all-Navy final for the B flight crown in a 7-5 decision
Michael Kacergis and Jack Lentz - Squash
Down 2-0 to in a best-of-five finals match, team captain Michael Kacergis and Jack Lentz staged an improbable comeback to win the 2019 Intercollegiate Doubles National Championship on Sunday ... The Navy pair won its quarterfinal and semifinal matches by way of 3-0 sweeps, however, Franklin & Marshall's Sanjay Jeeva and Shamseldeen Abbas jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the championship match ... Kacergis and Lentz rallied to win game three, 15-11, and then leveled the match with a 15-9 game-four victory ... The Navy pair utilized the momentum to clinch the national championship with a 15-10 victory in game five ... It was the first title win by Lentz and the second in a row by Kacergis who paired up with Senen Ubina to win in 2018.
Isaac Salinas, Water Polo
Helped Navy to a 4-1 record over the weekend, including a perfect 4-0 mark at the 2019 Gary Troyer Memorial Tournament ... Led the team with 19 goals in five games (3.8 per game) ... Registered a hat trick in all five games on the weekend ... Opened the weekend with a team-best five goals in a 13-12 victory over Air Force ... Tied 12-12 with Air Force, scored the game-winning goal with just under a minute to play ... Scored a team-high three goals against Chapman, leading the Mids to a 19-11 win ... Continued his hot play on Saturday with a team-high three goals against Redlands and five goals against Concordia to lead Navy to a pair of 13-11 victories ... Against #10 Loyola Marymount, scored three of Navy's nine goals.
Nicko West, Men's Soccer
West finished the week with six points after a goal and an assist in each of Navy's two contests this week ... The junior assisted on Navy's third goal of the day on Wednesday at American and then he scored the final goal in Navy's 4-0 victory on the road ... Against Bucknell, West was involved in both Navy goals that were scored just 51 seconds apart to secure a 2-0 win for the Midshipmen ... He laid a ball off to Joe Alex for the game-winning goal in the 75th minute and then in the 76th minute, West slipped by the Bison defense for an insurance goal ... West now has six goals on the season -- all coming in the last six games ... He has scored in three-straight contests and five of the last six games ... On the year he has six goals, two assists and 14 points ... He ranks second on the team in goals and points and is third in the Patriot League in both categories
