ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy men's and women's track and field team holds the lead after one day of competition at the 2019 Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championship, which is being held at Navy's Wesley A. Brown Field House in Annapolis, Md.
On the women's side, the Navy women's boasts 70.5 points after day one to lead second-place Army West Point by 37.5 points. The Midshipmen men's team tallied 63.5 points on the first day of competition to lead the field by 16.5. The Black Knights are second on the men's side with 57 points.
"I saw a bunch of people competing hard and advancing into the finals tomorrow," associate head coach
Chris Campbell said after the first day of competition. "That bodes well for tomorrow, but two thirds of the points are awarded tomorrow so we have a long way to go. The student-athletes who could score points today in the various events did so today. We need the people to continue to score points tomorrow. Everyone does their part in order for us to be successful and that is the way that this team wins competitions."
On the women's side,
