CENTER VALLEY, Pa. –– A career-high 26-point effort against Army helped Navy's John Carter Jr. (Fr., Spring Hill, Tenn.) earn this week's Patriot League Rookie-of-the-Week accolade on Monday.  

Carter has now received the nod, which is open only to freshmen, four times this season.  That tally ties him with Tilman Dunbar (2012-13) for third highest total in school history behind the eight awards won by J.J. Avila in 2010-11 and the six laurels won by Mike Heary in 1994-95.   

Carter led the Mids on the week with an average of 20.0 points per game and ranked second on the squad with an average of 7.5 rebounds a game.  He shot 63.4 percent (14-22) from the field, which included a 64.3 percent (9-14) mark from three-point land.

He began the week by totaling 14 points, eight rebounds and three assists in Navy's 80-74 loss to Lafayette.  Carter then tallied 26 points and seven rebounds in Navy's Star Game victory over Army.  The 26 points bettered his previous career high by eight points. He was 6-7 from three-point range and 9-12 from the field in all against the Black Knights.

Navy will close the regular season with three road games over the next two weeks. That span begins with a Wednesday night game at Loyola.
