ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy track and field team concluded its final meet before hosting the Patriot League Indoor Championship with a solid performance at the 2019 Navy Select. The Midshipmen combined for 24 ECAC / IC4A qualifying times and marks with the women recording nine ECAC qualifiers and the men registering 15 IC4A marks.

"We were trying to evaluate people today based on their training," Director of Navy Track and Field Jamie Cook said following the meet. "We were looking to work on some technical things. I think we came out of it pretty good. We got everything we needed out of it. Now we are trying to refocus as we look forward to hosting the Patriot League next week.

"I thought it was a good meet. We had some good teams come in. It was competitive in a lot of events. I thought there was some good energy for a Friday. I was impressed with a lot of the student-athletes who don't often get a chance to compete. They did a really good job. I thought the meet was really well received."

The meet was highlighted by junior Regine Tugade (Dededo, Guam) who broke the Navy school record in the 200m dash with a time of 24.83. The ECAC qualifier was 0.04 seconds faster than the previous record set back in 2007.

Navy returns to action next weekend as the Midshipmen host the Patriot League Indoor Championships on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 16-17 at Wesley A. Brown Field House in Annapolis, Md.
