Track and Field Claims Four Patriot League Weekly Accolades

Clayton Thompson (Track), Sean Brennan (Field), Sam Orie (Field), and Chloe Alfieri (Rookie) were named Patriot League Athletes of the Week.

CENTER VALLY, Pa. – Navy track and field had four student-athletes receive M-F Athletic Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field weekly honors, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. Clayton Thompson (Corpus Christi, Texas) was named Male Track Athlete of the Week, while Sean Brennan (Westfield, N.J.) claimed Male Field Athlete. Sam Orie (Greensburg, Pa.) was dubbed Female Field Athlete and Chloe Alfieri (Harvard, Mass.) was named Female Rookie of the Week.
 
At the Ross and Sharon Irwin Meet, Thompson won both hurdle events (110m and 400m), notching two of the best performances in Navy history. In the 110m hurdles, he recorded the third fastest time in program history with a time of 14.15. Thompson posted a time of 52.18 in the 400m hurdles to clock the ninth best time in Navy history. In addition, he also claimed second place in the long jump with a distance of 6.66m (21-10.25).
 
Brennan posted three top two finishes in the throwing events to help Navy claim the 2019 Ross and Sharon Irwin Meet title. The senior captain won the hammer throw with a distance of 57.00m (187-00), while taking second in the shot put (16.62m / 54-06.50) and the discus (50.38m / 165-03).
 
Orie notched three top 10 finishes at the 2019 Ross and Sharon Irwin Meet, helping Navy women take first place. She posted a second-place finish in the shot put with the second-best throw in Navy history – 14.54m (47-08.50). The sophomore claimed sixth in the discus with a throw of 40.77m (133-09) and second in the hammer with a distance of 47.87m (157-00).
 
Alfieri posted three top 10 finishes (two individual / one relay) at the Irwin Meet. The freshman recorded a time of 12.17 in the 100m dash to finish sixth. Alfieri claimed second place with a season-best time of 24.72 in the 200m dash. In addition, she ran the anchor leg of the 4x100m relay team that won the event with a time of 47.14.
 
Navy is set to participate in the Dan Stimson Memorial Meet in Williamsburg, Va. hosted by William and Mary on Saturday, March 23.
