ANNAPOLIS, Md. –– The Navy men's tennis team split a pair of matches Saturday afternoon in Annapolis.  The Mids (20-12) lost a 5-2 decision to James Madison (12-5) and won a 4-0 match over La Salle (2-11).
 
Navy earned wins at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles to earn the first point against La Salle.  Andrew Hicks (Sr., Haddon Heights, N.J.) and Romesh Kahatapitiya (So., Virginia Beach, Va.) combined for a 6-0 at No. 1 doubles.  Matthew Lee (Jr., San Diego, Calif.) and Jack McBride (Fr., Chapel Hill, N.C.) recorded a 6-2 win at the No. 2 flight.
 
Sam Vagner (Fr., Staten Island, N.Y.) won a 6-2, 6-3 decision at No. 6 singles to make the score 2-0 in favor of the Mids.  Cameron Kirkpatrick (Sr., Menlo Park, Calif.) notched a 6-4, 6-3 victory at No. 2 singles to extend the margin out to 3-0.  Lee then posted a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles to close out the match.
 
James Madison won each of the three doubles matches to gain an early edge.  The Dukes then won four of the six singles matches to secure the victory.  Posting wins for the Mids were Andrew Ton (So., Milpitas, Calif.) at No. 1 singles and Derrick Thompson (Fr., Towson, Md.) at No. 2 singles.  Ton won in straight sets and Thompson rallied to win after being shutout in the first set.
 
Navy will play host to Georgetown and Wagner Sunday at 11 a.m. at the indoor Tose Family Tennis Center and the adjacent outdoor Brigade Sports Complex courts.
