PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Navy women's track and field team recorded seven ECAC qualifying marks on the opening day of the 125th running of the Penn Relays at historic Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pa. In addition, the Mids posted two times that rank in the Navy all-time top 10, while adding a top-10 performance in the throws.
The 4x400m relay team of
Chelsey Edwards (Schertz, Texas),
Chloe Alfieri (Harvard, Mass.),
Lauren Heaton (Russia, Ohio), and
Amanda Agana (Fayetteville, Ark.) combined for an ECAC time of 3:43.92. The time was the second fastest performance in Navy history, falling 0.45 seconds shy of the all-time school record in the event.
Sam Orie (Greensburg, Pa.) tied for seventh all-time in Navy's records in the shot put with an ECAC qualifying throw of 14.28m (46-10.00). Agana notched an individual ECAC qualifying time of 1:00.41 in the 400m hurdles, which was the eighth fastest time in program history.
The Midshipmen also posted ECAC qualifiers in the 4x100m relay, discus, and hammer.
Amanda Henson (West Barnstable, Mass.), Edwards,
Regine Tugade (Dededo, Guam), and Alfieri clocked a collective time of 46.93 in the 4x100m relay. In the throws,
Aislyn Hayman (Leon, W.Va.) joined Orie with a qualifying distance in the shot put of 14.07m (46-01.75).
Jahna Alleyne (York, Pa.) posted a top throw of 42.86m (140-07) in the discus, while
Ariana McKenzie (Potomac, Md.) qualified in the hammer with a distance of 52.85m (173-04).
